Some Kind Of Monster Lyrics - Metallica

Review The Song (22)

These are the eyes that can't see me
These are the hands that drop your trust
These are the boots that kick you 'round
This is the tongue that speaks on the inside
These are the ears that ring with hate
This is the face that'll never change
This is the fist that grinds you down
This is the voice of silence no more

These are the legs in circles run
This is the beating you'll never know
These are the lips that taste no freedom
This is the feel thats not so safe
This is the face you'll never change
This is the god that ain't so pure
This is the god that is not pure
This is the voice of silence no more

We the people!
Are we the people?
We the people!
Are we the people?

Some kind of monster
Some kind of monster
Some kind of monster
This monster lives

This is the face that stones you cold
This is the moment that needs to breathe
These are the claws that scratch these wounds
This is the pain that never leaves
This is the tongue that whips you down
This is the burden of every man
These are the screams that pierce your skin
This is the voice of silence no more

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

This is the test of flesh and soul
This is the trap that smells so good
This is the flood that drains these eyes
These are the looks that chill to the bone
These are the fears that swing overhead
These are the weights that hold you down
This is the end that will never end
This is the voice of silence no more

We the people!
Are we the people?
We the people!
Are we the people?

Some kind of monster
Some kind of monster
Some kind of monster
This monster lives

This is the cloud that swallows trust
This is the black that uncolors us
This is the face that you hide from
This is the mask that comes undone

Ominous, I am in us
Ominous, I am in us
Ominous, I am in us
Ominous, I am in us

This is the cloud that swallows trust
This is the black that uncolors us
This is the face that you hide from
This is the mask that comes undone

Ominous, I am in us
Ominous, I am in us
Ominous, I am in us
Ominous, I am in us

Are we the people?
Some kind of monster
Some kind of monster
Some kind of monster
This monster lives

Try to understand... | Reviewer: SomeKindOfDejan | 3/12/14

If any of you acctualy wached the documentary Some Kind of Monster, you could know why is St.Anger an album like it is...There were tensions in band, and it's a miracle the band still even exists. There were no solos, because Kirk said he didn't want to play them, and want to go on without them. The influence of Bob Rock was big, they even had E tunings because of him,and just look how he influenced Metallica,he produced Black Album, which meant Metallica's new approach to the heavy metal music,Load and ReLoad are almost alternative rock,as described by many,Garage Inc. was cover album, and then came St.Anger,so i had came to the conclusion that Metallica isn't the same with Rock and without him,as he was even playing bass on this album...Death Magnetic was a kind of redemption of the old Metallica, but it's not going to be easy to get back to the thrash and pure heavy metal roots...Kill 'Em All,Lightning,Master and Justice were produced by the other producers, and now the band isn't working with Bob Rock anymore is a kind of a relief to me,even though I like him like a person,I don't think he is Metallica's kind of a producer, anyway,we should all thank him for the Black Album.
I honestly like many songs from his albums, especialy the Black one,but also Load,ReLoad,Garage, and in the end St.Anger.
Anyway,I hope the old Metallica will be back in the future releases,as I like the older stuff more.
And I love this song a lot.
Love old Metallica, love St.Anger Metallica, love 'a kind of a resurected old' Metallica and will love the new old Metallica.

Stop hating! | Reviewer: Shahir | 4/21/12

When I first heard the albums 'Load, ReLoad and St. Anger, I couldn't understand why people hated them so much. (This may be a repeat of the last comment, but this is my opinion too). Sure they weren't thrash like the old days but they made some kick-ass tracks such as this one, King Nothing, The Unforgiven II, St. Anger, etc. All those haters out there who call themselves 'true' Metallica fans only like the first 5 albums. If you're a true fan, you'll know that EVERY one of their albums had great music on them. All the way from Kill 'em All to Death Magnetic (great one, btw). Metallica is one of the greatest bands ever, so appreciate that they can change their style if they want to! \m/

For the nay-sayers | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/22/11

Of Course this album is not like their classic ones.No one can argue with that!!!However,it was pretty DAMN GOOD!!!It had amazing lyrics and epic agressive riffs...What many people don't know is how Metallica felt when they wrote this album...James had his drinking problem and almost broke up because James and Lars were arguing all the time...Metallica expressed their feelings and their anger through the epicness of this very album...If you don't like the album, the next time you listen this album try to feel like Metallica did, then MAYBE YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHY THIS ALBUM IS SO UNIQUE

Fuck the haters | Reviewer: Brittany | 2/11/11

St. Anger along with Load and Reload are all great fucking albums, a lot of people dont see that because theyre fair weathered and stick to the hype of Lightning, Master and Justice, but a true Metallica fan believes everything Metallica touches and writes is gold. so how bout all you so called "true" Metallica fans go and start a band and see how you stand up to Metallica! Go ahead!

In the old days.. | Reviewer: Mattias Westman | 11/17/10

"...And Justice For All" is my favorite album with Metallica. Mindblowing lyrics, sound and power to it. throughout the latest albums i believe they wrote descent/good lyrics, but the "metal" just slowly sank to become some sort of a new gen Metallica. Unbelievable - slow and calm - new gen music(or what the hell you wanna call it) - shit. To be honest Death Magnetic has got to be the biggest dissapointment ever. Thought i'd share my opinions, alot of fans feel the same way about 'em.

Stay metal \m/

YEAH | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/13/10

Wait wait wait..
St. Anger is a great album, but not a great Metallica album..maybe, a great SOAD album..
Metallica can't play this type of metal..
This album isn't better than or as good as the first ones..
Metallica are Metallica till the Black Album..
then with B. Rock they became a good band, but they weren't the same fuckin' metal band of Master of Puppets!
Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All: that were wonderful albums!
Oh my God! Please, don't compare One, Master of Puppets, Orion, Call of Ktulu, ecc. to these songs, good songs but not as good as those!

Some kind of change.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/17/10

this is not a bad song at all, st. anger had a different style and its fine. i actually enjoy the drums sounds really cool. and im 14 too but im not a dumbas like the other kid :P i cant wait for what metallica will come up with next, but i do hope its faster and more brutal like the first 4 albums

This song is pretty good but the people who review aren't | Reviewer: Alex | 11/29/09

Man this is such a sweet song, but like the majority of the people believe, this album did blow in general compared to like Justice and Lightning. As for the people who review: not just the people but like that 14 year old, like the one guy said it's not hamlet tard and you're saying "I'm 14 and I'm writing this stuff" ok? That doesn't make you special I'm 14 too. Just don't write anything kid, you sound retarted because you obviously know nothing about the band or grammar, hence the lowercase "I"'s. So just don't write please, you bring disgrace to teens everywhere. And for anyone who thinks I spelled "grammar" wrong because I put an "ar" at the end instead of an "er" look it up it is not "er". Just saying because I get that a lot.

OMG Wtf is wrong with u | Reviewer: Ishan | 11/26/09

St Anger is good, but DUDE have u listened to the old stuff, now that was killer. St Anger compared to any
Metallica album counting Black album and before S.A is shite. It isnt well the good metallica. Its not worth metallica in their glory.

Hamza
"no solos because kirk had enough of playing the classical solos and he wanted something different."

Nooooo noo, Kirk was pissed to hell because Bob Rock wanted to remove the solos, I still think Kirk never really agreed to get rid of the solos, but the actually had some solos on the earlier songs and.. Well, St. Anger wouldn't be St. Anger today if there were solos. This album is the best album Metallica has made in my opinion.

Great song :D | Reviewer: Frasssssss | 7/27/09

first off...this review pissed me off

"""Some Kind Of Goddamn Greatness | Reviewer: Robby | 5/16/09

This is the future of heavy metal. The whole album St. Anger is so Goddamn good that they didn't need Fuckin' hamlets shit on it not that i don't like his style it wouldn't have belonged on this album. He made an excelent return in Death Magnetic. I wrote a review on Frantic as well and i am only 14 and I'm writing this stuff."""

1. you can't spell hammett's name ...
2. this is not the future of heavy metal wtf do you hear? if it was then why is no other band using this style and why would metallica change their style straight after this, it's because the albums isn't right for the fans, it was right for them at the time because of the feelings in the band, not now...
3. who gives a fuck if you're 14 it means nothing
fs...

anyway the song itself is brilliant sounds great live too
very heavy
good summary of everything that the band was going through at the time:) probably the best song on st anger too

NAZ | Reviewer: NAS METAL | 7/7/09

the S.tAnger album was some thing new in the history of the whole metal's band, when you hear it you feel some thing new, some thing that shakes your inside. The drumbs, the guitar sound...really you fucked me up . Thank's METALLICA

The "Remastered" Version of St. Anger | Reviewer: Aramendil | 3/31/09

I don't remember where I got the download, but I'll find out soon enough. Anyway, someone "remastered" several songs from St. Anger (not all of them; I wish he did, though), and they are KILLER! Softer drums, audible guitars, boring parts taken out (the parts that are nauseatingly repeated). But above all else, there are SOLOS. Of course they're not Hammett's, but you gotta give the guy a chance. His solos sound liiiiiike...Jeff Hanneman from Slayer. A little. In any case, this is my favorite song off of that!

st.anger is complex | Reviewer: tyler fretwell | 10/1/08

st.anger was a good album as in 'music'. the prodution for the album was the worst thing in history. overall, the lyrics...good, riffs...good...music good...how does everything sound together? terrible. the drums sound like pipes! all in all; ok album, great song
