Believe me, this is a song i can't listen to just once...i have to repeat it, always. The imagery carries you along, the underlying fear, you feel. You can almost feel the cold...beautifully executed i must say. So poignant.

I just found this song again and downloaded it. I listened to this long before I joined the military and wondered what this truly meant. Just words back then. I sing the songs now and shudder at the implications. It's a shame so few leaders know how and when to wield this power.

While listening to the song, and reading the corresponding lyrics, I think it's a beautiful song with a meaning that, to this day is still valid.

I think the best thing of ABBA's the fact that they talked about every kind of argument in their songs. This is the second song about the war, after Fernando, one of my favourites within the album "The visitors". It has a really deep meaning and a wonderful melody. And I keep on thinking that Frida's voice's incomparable.

The Visitors was realeased in the 1980s at a time when it seemed like the Warsaw Pact tanks could roll across the NATO borders at any time, KAL was shot down, Reagan and Thatcher were in power and Soviets ran the evil empire...dark days and I think the song catches the underlying fear that we were heading for a nuclear war.

In my opinion is one of the best songs incluided in "The Visitors", because it sounds different from the music that Abba did before and have a feeling of sad and darkness
