Soldier Side Lyrics

Review The Song (60)Print the Lyrics
Dead man lying on the bottom of the grave
Wondering when Savior comes
Is he gonna be saved

Maybe you're a sinner into your alternate life
Maybe you're a joker maybe you deserve to die

They were crying when their sons left
God is wearing black
He's gone so far to find no hope
He's never coming back
They were crying when their sons left
All young men must go
He's come so far to find the truth
He's never going home

Young men standing on the top of their own graves
Wondering when Jesus comes
Are they gonna be saved

Cruelty to the winner, Bishop tells the King his lies
Maybe you're a mourner, maybe you deserve to die
They were crying when their sons left
God is wearing black
He's gone so far to find no hope
He's never coming back
They were crying when their sons left
All young men must go
He's come so far to find no truth
He's never going home

Welcome to the Soldier Side
Where there's no one here but me
People all grow up to die
There is no one here but me

Welcome to the Soldier Side
There is no one here but me
People on the soldier's side
There is no one here but me

my friend | Reviewer: Dewbie | 11/19/09

my brother fought in this "invasion" and he has it all on film from a camera attached to his helmet. images of people slaughtering civilians as he came in and saved them. people firing rockets on churchs for there diffrent beliefs. mine and his friends being killed by people who looked like civilians. a young innocent boy who was killed by insurgents for talking to me over a web cam... its not an invasion. we truely are saving the innocent. ive seen it. they are slaughtering each other and blaming us.so to all of you assholes out there who think that we are wrong for fighting against the wicked. that going over there to stop those who provoked us by killing our people and then killing their own and saying it was us i must ask. have you no heart?

God is wearing black | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/18/09

the line "God is wearing black" always sends a shiver down my spine when i hear this song...

its like a clown killing people wrong and odd in every way. i think this also has a message about not just going into war because someone tells u too. they reflect over the times of the crusades in europe "Bishop tells the King his lies" that time they lied to everyone just to murder thousand s of innocent muslims for no reason other than taking back the grave of jesus which they had no right to... powerfull song and i love it

message to my american friends | Reviewer: real citizen of the world | 11/9/09

hi there people, i think the war is unfair when it is against civilians like in afghanistan or irak where they real enemies are dead and there are only innocent people trying to throw out invaders.........AMERICANSS!! this war is not yours you're not trying to defend your country. you're invading another country with political pretexts dont be lambs of a few ambitious politicians making fun of you questioning your patriotism.....be patriotic is to love your country not to hate others..i hope you catch the message

wow | Reviewer: joe | 9/20/09

this song is very powerful and deep in its own way, though the message is pretty straight forward and clear. Ive been deployed and seen the ugly side of war and when i hear this song it just has this effect on me, its hard to explain.

Well i really fell in love with this song while doing research about WWII and it's really true I love this song and what it stand for!! It has a strong hidden message. and thats the way i am. War is stupid but it happens and you have to support the men and women fighting. They don't wanna be there so give them some support damn it!!!

What they stand for. | Reviewer: Brok Phelps | 7/30/09

I love what System Of A Down stand for. They always are against gov't/war/the rich. And i agree completely. Here are some of the hints. In BYOB they say you depend on our protection(the gov't depends on the people, or the army) Yet you feed us lies from the tablecloth,(they have lied to us countless times.Hypnotize it's about the slaughter on the chinese citizens at Tienanmen Square..He says "Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square? Was fashion the reason why they were there?" And Daron says "They disguise it,Hypnotize it,Television made you buy it."
He is probably talking about how television ruins lives by causing them to be addicted to tecnology. In Aerials it is against the rich and fame..you cantell because the boy has money around him and he is famous for being oddly deformed. In suite-pee it is about god and their beleifs,
He says i want to f**k,my,way to the god and, cause everyone needs a mother,f**ker! Anyway love the song!

There is no one here but me | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/19/09

It shows that while people SAY they stand up for the troops. The reality is that few is DO stand up for the troops.

This song is not anti-war. It to show their support. That even though there are cruelty in war, "People all grow up to die" and that violence is inside of us no matter the race.

In the end of the song, they sing "There is no one here but me"...think about that people!

"People on the soldier's side
There is no one here but me"

They're the only one standing next to the troops. While the supports won't take action.

o well short summery of what i thought of the song. Love it.

why is god wearing black | Reviewer: TJ702 | 7/5/09

maybe because we all think when we die god is going to be there regardless... god isn't god... its satin... because of what you have done in combat "maybe your a sinner maybe you deserve to die" is what that reflects on... so you assume its god black...

Feelings | Reviewer: Chris Todd | 5/19/09

I feel this song everytime cause i'm irate with the economy right now and how we have to send our own kind to die and its pathetic, i've become anti-social cause of this, i hate everything america's doing right now cause of war, but this is a tribute to soilder's dieing

Meaning? | Reviewer: metalhead | 4/21/09

I think this song, like many of the Songs on Mezmerize and Hypnotize is very Anti-War.
Not so much on the fact that the Serj and Malakian don't like war (which they probably dont) but more that people take the Soldier's lives for granted

It is a good song musically speaking
But Hypnotize and Mezmerize are seething with their "hate for the machine/gov't/rich" additude from previous albums such as System of a Down and Steal This CD!

I don't agree with their poltics
but I love their music
and the messages, well the ones that don't seem so Anti-American
