I am the heaven
I am the water
Ich bin der Dreck unter deinem Bolzen
Ich bin dein geheimer Schmutz und verlorenes Metallgeld
Ich bin deine Ritze
Ich bin deine Ritze und dunkle Verstecke
I am the clouds
I am embroidered
Ich bin der Autor aller Falten und Damask Paspeln
Ich bin der chrome Dinette
Ich bin der chrome Dinette
Ich bin Eier aller Arten
Ich bin alle Tage und Naechte
Ich bin alle Tage und Naechte
Ich bin hier
Und du bist mein Sofa
Ich bin hier
Und du bist mein Sofa
Ich bin hier
Und du bist mein Sofa

Mock-heroic waltz with a truly beautiful melody | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/21/06
This song, from Zappa's magnificent "One Size Fits All", is a huge, bombastic, mock-heroic waltz about -- your sofa. Don't let the published English-language lyrics fool you, it is sung almost entirely in German, which is the language of choice for the Big Guy whenever it's really Heavy Business. The music, harmonization, and instrumentation are about as perfect as they could be -- I think Zappa's message here is that the sublime and transcendent always lurk just behind the surface of the mundane, and that Music -- which is The Best -- has the power to bring this right to the front. The man was a diamond-edged skeptic, but this is as spiritual as his music -- or any music -- gets. That, plus it's funny.
