Passed out on the overpass
Sunday best and broken glass
Broken down from the bikes and bars
Suspended like spirits over speeding cars
You and me were kings over the parkway tonight
And tonight will go on forever while we
walk around this town like we own the streets
and stay awake through summer like we own the heat
Singing "everybody wake up (wake up) it's time to get down"
(everybody, everybody wake up its time to get down)
And when I pass the bottle back to Pete
on the overpass tonight, I bet we laugh
I'm gonna stay eighteen forever (cut me open)
So we can stay like this forever (sun poisoned)
And we'll never miss a party (this offer...)
cause we keep them going constantly (...stands forever)
And we'll never have to listen (new haircut)
to anyone about anything (new bracelet)
cause it's all been done and it's all been said (eyeliner)
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get
The hell out of this town
Find some conversation
The low fuel lights been on for days
It doesn't mean anything
I've got another 500, 'nother 500 miles
before we shut this engine down,
we shut it down
I'm gonna stay eighteen forever (cut me open)
So we can stay like this forever (sun poisoned)
And we'll never miss a party (this offer...)
cause we keep them going constantly (...stands forever)
And we'll never have to listen (new haircut)
to anyone about anything (new bracelet)
cause it's all been done and it's all been said (eyeliner)
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get (wait forever)
(you're just jealous cause I'm young and in love)
Eighteen forever (first kisses)
(your stomach's filled up but you're starved for conversation)
So we can stay like this forever (new stitches)
(you're spending all your nights growing old in your bed)
And we'll never miss a party (collar weekend)
(and your tearin up your photos cause you wanna forget... it's over)
cause we keep them going constantly (appearance ticket)
(you're just jealous cause I'm young and in love)
And we'll never have to listen (November to...)
(your stomach's filled up but you're starved for conversation)
to anyone about anything cause it's all been done (...remember)
(you're spending all your nights growing old in your bed)
and it's all been said (nightswimmers)
(and your tearin up your photos cause you wanna forget... it's over)
we're the coolest kids and we take what we can get
Just jealous cause we're young and in love
You're just jealous cause we're young and in love
You're just jealous cause we're young and in love
You're just jealous cause we're young and in love
You're just jealous cause we're young and in love
You're just jealous... <i>[turntable scratch]

Review about Soco Amaretto Lime Young Love | Reviewer: Nani | 11/23/09
This was a song me and one of my boyfriends had together. We were together for a year when we were 15 and this describes us. Being young and reckless, just being teenagers and doing what teenagers are supposed to do. Sneaking out, acting like we were cooler than we really were, drinking, partying and falling in love. This song explains all the thoughts teens have. I love it and I always will. Listening to it brings back all my summer memories.
where do i start, this song ofcourse brings back memories. im 21 years old, it takes me back to my sophmore year. drinking and singing along on a karoke machine talking to big mouth billy bass on the wall, passing out behind cars in driveways with bottles in our hand and wasted lying down in peoples yards at 7am missing school because were too drunk to make it.. wow. my girlfriend charlene always told me, when in doubt it was needed, "theyre just jealous cuz were young and in love". and w/e it pertains too is irrelevant because as long as you reminice as i just did, thats all that matters.
music does speak the words were afraid to say. and when i was 15, i was afraid to say alot. anyway amazing song. brings back more memories than i can perceive. absolutely wonderful though. and tattoo.. YES im definitely considering now. i would love to have the meanig on my arms.

Im with most of the other people here. This song reminds me of all the good times, particularly in the summer, with friends ive had even tho im just 18. But at the same time some of the darkest moments in my life have been shared with this song. Its one of those songs I can listen to no matter what mood im in, but then again so is Brand New in general.
IMO...and like assholes we all have one... | Reviewer: Brand New Fan | 7/28/09
it seems to me after reading the previous reviews there are mixed emotions about the meaning of the song...of course one reviewer had it right when they said the only people who can truly know the meaning is the band or whoever wrote the lyrics...but that is the power of music...it means so much to so many...and we all feel something different when we listen to it...whether it be a nervous breakdown, the death of a loved one, hilarious days of reaking havoc in school, those wild and crazy days we all feel like having when life gets the best of us, or just the feeling of being young and in love...to me music is a journey...every song i've ever listened to (good or bad) has had at least one lyric which pertained to a time in my life...hold those lines close to your heart and remember that the experiences we take with us shape us into who we are...music speaks the words we are too afraid to say...

I can't stop listening to this song, even though I have been listening to it since it's come out. It makes me think of when I was a junior in high school- my friends and I always sung the line "We're the coolest kids and we take what we can get." We were hellions in our homeroom class. Oh, I will never forget the years and how we felt. We all felt the same- and all of you reading this feel the same. It is so amazing how this song relates to every single one of us. I <3 Brand New. Forever

amazing | Reviewer: peter john alabaster | 6/28/09
i do love this song. what someone said earlier about it being horrible to listen to is utterly ridiculous. i like the idea of the tattoo.. cause you'd look back on it when your older and think of your youth.
oh and well the scratch at the end is a bit annoying - but i'm guessing it links to the realization that 'life bites'. it cuts out the 'youre just jealous cause were young and in love' cause it's such a naive thing to say, it's like life it cutting the little voices out
lol
ramble over
good song

the lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/23/09
this song is very poetic and has more meaning than people see. but the band knows it more than anyone else, and that's all that matters to them.
if you dont see the poetry and deep meaning in this song, then you don't know music.
Sad... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/19/09
Someone was talkin bout how much they liked this song... Saddddnesss if these guys get big. People canlonger distinguish good music from bad music anymore!...
The picture that pops into my head when I hear this song is that of a 14 year old crying himself to sleep... not very appealing.
The ending. | Reviewer: Koryn | 4/10/09
I love the ending.
It's really poetic, IMO, and truthful.
Reality check. It's a bratty 18 year old song, and that 18 year old learns fast. Real world bites.
That being said, I just turned 18, and I'm still staying up too late while I can and going out. :]
perfection. | Reviewer: :} | 4/9/09
this song makes me think about so much.
my bestfriend's cousin died a few years ago, and Brand New was his favorite band.
and he was 18.
this was his funeral song.
everytime i hear it, i can't help but think about things.
Brand New is an absolutely AMAZING band,
they definitely know what they're doing.
i'll never, ever forget about this band.
