------ About the song I Was Wrong performed by Social Distortion

Like others here, this song struck a personal chord with me. I can't remember when I first realized I was wrong, going about this life-thing the wrong way completely. It was before this song came along, but not too long before. And Thanks, Mr. Ness, for all you have done to enhance my life with your wonderful words and music. Now my daughter is into Social D, at age 20, and she has better taste in music than I do. ;)

------ About the song Making Believe performed by Social Distortion

First of all, I like Social Distortion's version very much. The lyrics are switched around from the way I originally composed it, and a few extra words have been added, but all in all, it is a good recording.

Making Believe was stolen from me, verbatim in lyrics and music. I was sixteen years old when I composed this song. None of the three people who have been credited for it had anything to do with writing the song. Only my mother was present when I composed it. There were several songs involved in this piracy.

There are a couple of newspaper articles which mention this on my Facebook under Old Pictures, which is open to the public. Also, an album face by the Calhoun Twins which gives me credit for Making Believe.

Hugh Jass wrote: >>Jimmy Work isn't credited as the song writer because Sony owns the rights to the song and Social D's Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell album was released by Sony.<<

What does that have to do with it.

Anyway, Jimmy Work did not write the song. I did, when I was a young girl. There is some mention of this on Facebook page, Shirley Malcolm Sheppard, under Old Pictures. A couple of newspaper items, and an album cover giving me credit for the song. It was stolen verbatim, words and music.

RE: Joe from NVA
Good review Joe, however you failed to realize heroin also rhymes with 'shape I'm in'. Gin sounds better though.
Great song with a deep meaning. A good counterpoint to all the meaningless fluff we are bombarded with every day.

------ About the song Bad Luck performed by Social Distortion

That is the greatness of Social D's music. Mike Ness is straight forward and doesn't mix words when it comes to relating his life. And that is what these songs are all about. There is no pompous arrogance to his lyrics. Some have even said they are quite elementary. But when the story is as powerful as these songs are, who needs the fluff. Ness let's us know that, at times, life hurts, love stings, and emotions are to be dealt with. but we move on. We push through the adversity and find it can be as simple as the lyrics. Sometimes life really sucks, but you have to give as good as you receive. Whether its in love or war, give it right back. A kiss on the lips or a fist to the jaw, take your licks and give them right back. Bad Luck is as good as any other song out there. simple, but elegant in its own way. And even i, as a dude's dude, get drawn in my Ness' voice, and his ultra cool swagger. If ever there was an alpha male I would flow anywhere, it's Mike Ness.

------ About the song Don't Drag Me Down performed by Social Distortion

DDMD is my favorite song ever. To me it's much more than railing against racism, it's railing against any incompetence, any societal situation, politician or ignorant fool that drag the rest of us down with their greed, ignorance or incompetence. How high could we fly if someone, somewhere wasn't consistently tugging at our coat tails "dragging us down"?!

------ About the song Angel's Wings performed by Social Distortion

I discovered Social D just recently while I'm going through a divorce. The whole Sex, Love and Rock n Roll album is great. I feel like the whole album was written for me. I guess that's the power of music. And this is the first song that hooked me. But now they all have. This song is awesome. Gives me hope and belief that this is not the end for me but a beautiful new beginning. Can't wait to see where I go from here. LONG LIVE SOCIAL D!!

------ About the song Ball And Chain performed by Social Distortion

its about recovery its about as someone said wherever i go there i am. its about the crap we put ourselves into before we surrender and say we can't do it anymore, that a power higher than ourselves can ,will, (and in my case better) relieve me of the bondage of self. Thats what its all about. thanx
