2001 marks the band's tenth year together. As a
mini-retrospective, here's one of the band's first bios
from almost ten years ago...
THE HISTORY
Can you name one band that has a single coming out on Sub
Pop Records, opened up for both Bryan Adams and Extreme,
was invited to open for Sonic Youth in NYC as their U.S.
introduction, and recorded their major label debut before
they had their major label? It's been that kind of year for
Sloan.
Since their first show at Nova Scotia College of Art and
Design in Halifax a little over 18 months ago, Sloan have
managed to tour Canada, record an album (Smeared), release
their own EP (Peppermint), and sign their lives away with
major label punk rock kingpins DGC Records.
I think this will sound great at the 'Sloan - Murderecords Alumni Family & Friends Reunion Renaissance Festival for all those on The Edge and Anyone who's Anyone's Invited' taking place February 13 - 14, 2010 at the Palais Royale, TOXONTCA. Hopefully before then we'll have a catchier name for all this. Luckily for us Jingle Bell Rock is already taken.
I do love this song. Some guy I met told me to listen to it so I guess I am getting the message that he is "The other man" am I right because I do have another man... SO confused.
