SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES BIOGRAPHY Siouxsie & the Banshees were among the longest-lived and most successful acts to emerge from the London punk community; over the course of a career which lasted two decades, they evolved from an abrasive, primitive art-punk band into a stylish, sophisticated unit which even notched a left-field Top 40 hit. Throughout their numerous line up changes and textural shifts, the group remained under the leadership of vocalist Siouxsie Sioux, born Susan Dallion on May 27, 1958. She and the Banshees' initial line-up emerged from the Bromley Contingent, a notorious group of rabid Sex Pistols fans; inspired by the growing punk movement, Dallion adopted the name Siouxsie and formed the Banshees in September, 1976. Great lyrics...and I love the guitars! This is great song live too. I saw the Banshees in 84 with Robert Smith from The Cure on guitars....and he did a great job recreating the sounds form the records. I dropped more Acid listening to Siouxsie than most Dead-Head's listening to that Hippie crap. In the early 80's she was my "Obsession." Don't forget the Banshees; Steve, Budgie and John, or whoever was at lead at the moment. Even Robert Smith (The Cure) was a Banshee. I listened to classic rock most always and this album introduced me to new sounds and arrangements. The music, lyrics and voice of Siouxie have a melodic and haunting carousel sound which I found completely entrancing at times. This sound permeates throughout the album but in a wide variety of guises. Enjoy this as an introduction album to SATB if you've never heard of them either.
