There is this thing that's like fucking except you don't phuck
Back in the day it just went without saying at all
All the world's history gradually dying of shock
There is this thing it's like talking except you don't talk
You sing
You sing
Sing for the bartender sing for the janitor sing
Sing for the cameras sing for the animals sing
Sing for the children shooting the children sing
Sing for the teachers who told you that you couldn't sing
Just sing
There is thing thing keeping everyone's lungs and lips locked
It is called fear and it's seeing a great renaissance
After the show you can not sing wherever you want
But for now let's just pretend we're all gonna get bombed
So sing
Sing cause its obvious sing for the astronauts sing
Sing for the president sing for the terrorists sing
Sing for the soccer team sing for the janjuweed sing
Sing for the kid with the phone who refuses to sing
Just sing
Life is no cabaret
We don't care what you say
We're inviting you anyway
You motherfuckers you'll sing someday...
You motherfuckers you'll sing someday...
You motherfuckers you'll sing someday...

Goosebumps | Reviewer: Jennifer | 8/23/08
I get goosebumps everytime I hear this song. The lyrics are amazing and I love when choirs (not really a choir in this song but back up singers) are put in songs it just sends chills it's really really beautiful.
There are 2 versions of this song, & the lyrics of the 2 versions are here combined. One version is the radio edit, which in the beginning uses the word touching instead of F***ing. However, this same version does not say motherf****er 3 times at the end, but just Mother without any additional wordage.
The original, unedited version uses the word f***ing, and Motherf***ers respectively.
I personally prefer it without the unnecessary swearing, but it is a beautiful song, definitely on my top hit list.

Absolutely love this band... | Reviewer: Addy | 5/18/07
I've absolutely loved this band since I first heard their song "Coin Operated Boy."
They're different, stylish, modern (yet almost classic), catchy, and intelligent. Most of their songs have a message to deliver and I think that's been missing in most modern music for quite some time. The Dresden Dolls are very refreshing and take me back to a time when music wasn't just another catchy tune or arse-shaking beat on the radio: it was used to express oneself and share one's outlooks and emotions with the world - creating something almost tangible with which the world can relate to.
I love this song, "Sing", because it pretty much exemplifies that idea - telling everyone to "sing" - about any and everything going on in the world today and to any and everyone willing to listen - to speak one's mind and live freely, without fear.
Definitely a must-hear, in my opinion.
