Review about Sinead O'Connor songs
Not original lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Danny Boy performed by Sinead O'Connor

These are NOT the original lyrics. The song was originally written by an Englishman and had no connection to Ireland or the Irish revolutionry struggle. The song was later adopted as an "Irish song" and turned political, which was never its true meaning.

It is however a beautiful tune, and Sinead O'Connor's version is one of the most beautiful renditions I've ever heard. Listen to it with your heart not your head.

Lost love | Reviewer: deborah
------ About the song She moved through the fair performed by Sinead O'Connor

I always got the impression that it was a love between two people who came from different classes. The first two lines sounds like someone was being reassured that they wouldn't be slighted for their lack of means or position. But one has a sorrow that never was said could mean that the person knew in their heart that the wedding would never take place, because mummy and daddy really would mind. They gathered their belongings and headed home, the last ever seen of their love. The dream was a longing for that lost love. In other words someone got dumped and never got over it.

------ About the song Fire On Babylon performed by Sinead O'Connor

He may have misinterpreted the song, but what he has to say is important. The Irish stance on not being involved in war is a good one. It's important that we know the truth from the Iraqi people's side, too. Our british government invaded their country and killed their men, women and children needlessly and indiscriminately, despite millions of brits marching against the war. They bombed mosques and schools. Some people still believe it was 'just'. The people in power have destroyed lives like this - the interpretation of a sinead o connor song means f*ck all when faced with the enormity and reality of this. Don't ignore him. He found a voice here - a strange place, true. But his voice should still be heard. Our government are the real terrorists. The Iraqi people never wanted "liberating" - they didn't want our country getting involved and nor do afghanistan or libya! People are dying and for what? Why? Abdul deserves our reverence and respect. He has been through the worst kind of hell at the hands of our government.

Live version of Fire on Babylon - question | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Fire On Babylon performed by Sinead O'Connor

In the live version - what does she sing at the end? It's something like "Jah will abide, Jah's enemies will scatter (repeat); so shall the wicked bleed before the Lord, so shall the wicked bleed!"

Is that it? I'm pretty sure it's not "abide"

------ About the song She moved through the fair performed by Sinead O'Connor

The origianl song was "she" written by Padraic Colum I think - a Donegal man. My interpretation of "one had a sorrow that never was said" - was always that she had depression that wasnt talked about ( a common problem with youth in Ireland) and that she killed herself .. just my interpretation not based on any communication from the songwriter.

Abdul is very mistaken | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Fire On Babylon performed by Sinead O'Connor

Did the irish invade Iraq? I think not.

Is Babylon even an actual place in Iraq? Babylon existed thousands of years ago. It's not the modern Iraq.

The word Babylon is often used as a symbol of what is considered to be a corrupt social system. The word has become synonymous with oppression and is a collective term for materialism, selfishness, prejudice and all that suppress personal freedom and true spirituality.

And in my mind this has little to do with the ancient Babylon.

------ About the song Anachie Gordon performed by Sinead O'Connor

I first head this song, at the ripe age of 17, in a modern twist of similar circumstances to Jeannie. Brought tears to my eyes when I first heard Sineads version, and still does every time I hear it. What a beautiful, chilling song. To my knowledge, it's and old scottish folk song, but not sure as to how factual the characters are or were. Absolutely love it.

------ About the song The Foggy Dew performed by Sinead O'Connor

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for enlightening me on more of my celtic heritage. I was born and raised away from all that in a small town in Georgia, USA and was never able to fully understand my heritage until I was looking at family names and came across mine then set off to some research. Ever since I have fallen in love with Irish folk music! Thank You!

------ About the song Nothing Compares 2 U performed by Sinead O'Connor

This song is definitely one that has some deep meaning to it. I believe the sincerity in her voice is one reason I like to listen to it even to this day. I've often hoped she would come back with some new material.
