Simple Minds was founded in 1978 by Jim Kerr (vocals),
Charlie Burchill (guitar), Tony Donald (bass) en Brian
McGee (drums). Second guitar player Duncan Barnwell and
keyboard player Micheal McNeil completed the band. The
first change in personnel followed soon when Derek Forbes
came to replace a disappointing Donald. This starting
period ended with the departure of Barnwell. Meanwhile
Simple Minds had established itself as one of Scotland’s
best live acts. This led to a record deal with Edinburgh’s
independent label ZOOM that was distributed by ARISTA and
managed by Bruce Findley. He also became the band’s
manager.
The first single "Life In A Day" reached number 62 in the
UK Charts while the debut album of the same name reached More...

Boy this song takes me back many years to the first time I seen mthe Breakfast Club in the movie theater I belive I was in the 8th grade at the time I loved the song then and still sing it often I bought the soundtrack record at the time just for that song

My interpretation is that writer wanted to advise that sometimes we (man) are not acting proprely, and we are used by smart womens ... and later we just looking for excuses like 'hypnotised' states etc...
Maybe I understood it wrongly but I can have my point of view!
Hi there, I'm from Argentina. The 1st time I heard of Simple Minds was when I saw The Breakfast club, and from then I kept listening and admiring their performance. I really think they're a truly fine rock/pop band. Their latest album Black & white 050505 is brilliant, Dolphins became one my favourites!
Must be one of if not the greatest instrumental of it's era,the sound the feel the life that exudes and more importantly lives within this theme epitomises simple minds as the forerunners of anthemic instrumentals.

I am 13 years old and I absolutley love Simple Minds!Jim kerr is such a hottie!!I also think that his accent is very very very cool!I have his greatest hits dvd and it is wonderful! I listen to it in the mornings when I wake up and when I go to bed every day, and I'm not even close to being tired to listening to them.I have two of their CD'S and i'm wprking on finding the rest.I would give their CD'S and DVD's an awsome 9. And give him a hot 10! HeHe!
