Shinedown Simple Man Lyrics

Last updated: 01/05/2014 03:58:16 PM

Well mama told me, when I was young
Said sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this, it'll help you some sunny day

Yeah it will

Or take your time don't live to fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman and you'll find love
And don't forget that there's is a someone up above

Be a simple kind of man
Be a something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
(if you can)

Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need now is in your soul
And you can do this(oh baby)if you try
All that I want from you my son is to be satisfied

And be a simple kind of man
Be a something that you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
(if you can)

Oh don't you worry
You'll find yourself
Follow your heart
And nothing else
And you can do this(oh baby)if you try
All that I want from you my son is to be satisfied

And be a simple kind of man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can
So baby be a simple be a simple man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can

This song is shit | Reviewer: Ant | 1/4/14

I hate this song. My neighbour plays it every day at full volume in his rattling asbestos shed. It is a simple song for simple c*nts. I hate it. He whistles incessantly and sings along out of key and makes me want to throw bricks at his head. I hate this song.

Song with soul | Reviewer: Randy | 6/8/09

I first heard this song about 20 yrs ago at a concert with bad company featuring lynard skynard of course it wasnt ronnie it was johnny van zandt leading up the vocals but he served it well but this song always touches me and I enjoy playing it at home on my acoustic guitar its basicly 3 simple chords but the lyrics set it off.

shinedown does this song justice and I dont think it will ever get old!

I wish it were true | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/20/09

I wish it were true that I could be a simple man. However, Fate/God/Time has dictated otherwise. Yet, in the night when I find a moment of peace through alcohol or sleep, I want to hold on to the fact that the lyrics of this song can be true-- even for a minute. I am me That life will be ok as long as I strive for that which he speaks. We were born. We will survive. What more is there?... hold on to this and peace can be found.

Simple Man | Reviewer: Raven | 11/21/08

Sad to say but, I had actually never heard this song until about a month ago. My boyfriend and I were talking on the internet and, he told me that this song reminded him of his grandfather. So of course I listened to it and instantly fell in love. Simple Man is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard and, I can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. Everytime I hear the song my heart aches and I remember my childhood and what life use to be. Thank You Lynyrd Skynyrd and Shinedown...although I still can't decide which version I like better.

4 Dime | Reviewer: bRiE | 8/6/07

I saw Shinedown on 6/20/06 and they performed this song live and dedicated it in memory of Dimebag Darrell, and for the first time in my concert going history I cried...I was standing in a huge circle of people with lighters and cell phones up and I was right there crying my eyes out...that's 1 moment of my life I know I'll never 4get

Goodnight daddy, i will love you forever | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/6/07

what more can i say, this song has so much feeling it's unbelievable.

We Scots folk don't need much to get the blood pumping, but this reminds me of my dad so much.... a re-make does not often get better than the original but this does.

Simple Man memories | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/1/05

Shinedown has taken this classic and made it come to life again a generation later. I grew up on Lynyrd Skynyrd and my son, now 23, remembers me singing this song to him when he was young and would be going through tough times and when he heard Shinedown he wasted no time turning me on to it and I cried and still do as I listen to it over and over. Thank you Shinedown for the memories of a mother and her only son.
