------ About the song SCARBOROUGH FAIR performed by Simon and Garfunkel
the S&G version of this song is only an adapted excerpt of the original, actually. it still reflects parts of the original tale it tells, though not much/enough to convey the whole meaning (in my opinion). it's nevertheless a beautiful song and one of my S&G favorites.

------ About the song Song for the Asking performed by Simon and Garfunkel
This is one of those absolutely lovely songs which seems to slip past so many folks. How can that be? I am not sure. If you love Simon and Garfunkel and haven't heard this song then seek it out. A very quiet and pretty melody. Truly a beautiful song.
Poetic Depth | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Bleeker Street performed by Simon and Garfunkel
"Bleecker Street" is a great example of Simon and Garfunkel's poetic depth. One can analyze the song and find a thought-provoking theme which is complemented by the harmonies and melodies of the piece. This attribute is not confined merely to "Bleecker Street," but it is a characteristic of Simon and Garfunkel's music, also seen in "Sounds of Silence" and "Sparrow" to name a couple.

------ About the song Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. performed by Simon and Garfunkel
As a little vignette, a small, simple artistic creation, this song is one of Paul Simon's best. The melody-harmony lines are in perfect sync; the lyrics evoke a single, specific mood and scene. The protagonist is a thief, rebel, lover, philosopher, and poet; as you sing or perform the song, you feel that you are also all those persons, and that you are right there in the bed, under the winter's moon light. Much is left unsaid --- which is why this is Art, not just some rambling thoughts.

------ About the song Feuilles-O performed by Simon and Garfunkel
After some digging around the internet, it seems this song was originally done by the Haitian "mizik rasin" group Boukman Eksperyans in 1992. I wonder though if it was actually a traditional folk song. I also wonder where the French lyrics came from because they seem to have a different meaning from the original("pitie moi malade" I would translate like "pity sick me", as opposed to "pitit mwen malad" = "my sick child"--not that my French is perfect)
French translation? | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Feuilles-O performed by Simon and Garfunkel
"pitie" means just what it sounds like (pity--though I didn't think it was a verb), but I believe the Haitian Creole "pitit" means "child"...My French isn't great, but I think "pitie moi malade" would be closest to "pity sick me," which is quite different from "my child is sick" I just thought it was interesting because I had only seen the French lyrics before, and it makes much more sense to me now with this English translation.

------ About the song The Sound Of Silence performed by Simon and Garfunkel
There once was a time that I liked this song. A long, long, time ago. But eventually, lyrics such as the following got to me...
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you.
The sheer level of arrogance and seelf importance in those words is beyond comprehension. The melody is OK but the lyrics...[roll eyes]

------ About the song SCARBOROUGH FAIR performed by Simon and Garfunkel
If you listen carefully to the lyrics (of the Simon and Garfunkel version) in the background (they are sung simultaneously with the main lyrics, starting in the second stanza), it talks about a man going to/at war. Any idea of what those lyrics are, where they came from, or what their connection to the song might be?

------ About the song SCARBOROUGH FAIR performed by Simon and Garfunkel
I grew up wih Simon & Garfunkel - my mother was a folk singer and had a lot of british and american folk music. This song is incredible, a beautiful folk melody. Paul Simon fashioned this version with his massive talent, but the song itself is a traditional folk song of unknown origin.
Anyone who has enjoyed this version should listen to most if not all of Paul Simon's music, especially the aamount he wrote for his partnership with Art G.

------ About the song The Boxer performed by Simon and Garfunkel
In general, Simon and Garfunkel are brilliant songwriters. Their songs are still completely relevant in many people's lives as much so then as they are today. Excellent songs that capture loneliness, longing, dreams, etc. anything that pertains to the American dream. They are one of the greatest bands I know, honestly. I love them.

------ About the song Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream performed by Simon and Garfunkel
I also have sung this song since hearing The Talbot Bros of Mason Proffit sing it to us at their concert in 1971 in Iowa. It has stuck with me every since then along with a lot of their other songs like "Hope" (for a world of giving and hope for a world of caring Lets live together!). I have and still listen to Mason Proffit all the time. Especially when I hear of something wrong in the world!! Which is often nowadays!! You can still find their music re-released on CD! Go out and buy it and enjoy. Charactr

I'm listening to the Celtic Women version... I'm only mid-teens so obviously I'd never heard of Simon & Garfunkel before until I played this song for my dad after falling in love with it. He told me who the original singers were and I just can't believe how I could love a song so much!

True middle age feeling - imperfect rhyme makes it even more harmonic!!! It sounds almost like a gregorian choral! True pleasure.
Of the songs that give me similar feeling I would think of "Sound of silence".

------ About the song I Am a Rock performed by Simon and Garfunkel
When you have been kicked down spat upon enough by friends and family the only way out is going alone. A rock feels no pain therefore it won't crack. An Island never Dies it is surrounded and protected by a moat of water therefore cannot be penetrated to be hurt.

------ About the song The Sound Of Silence performed by Simon and Garfunkel
This song is beautiful and melancholy in it's lyrics. No matter where you hear it, you have to listen and reflect on the lyrics. It makes me feel very isolated and engrossed in the song. A masterpiece!

------ About the song FIFTY WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR LOVER performed by Simon and Garfunkel
My mom played this song for us when we were children and i loved the catchy beat but never fully understood the full lyrical meaning. Now that I'm an adult i see that men, in general, have difficulty "exiting" a relationship and this song is perfect proof of that. I think the woman the male singer is getting this advice from may have a little crush on him and may be secretly (selfishly) trying to get him single.
