Given all of the mixed studio releases from one continent to the next, it's enough to make one wonder if they've heard all of COB's tracks in order so as to be up to date with what came first and to track with the direction that this band is moving in. The Bodom line is that this band kicks some serious ass, and with Alexi's take no prisoners attitude, and stage presence coupled with the indisputable skill with which he wields his axe, I don't think it matters which way you listen to COB with the exception of loudness and good EQ. Well what of Alexi and his Hate Crew this time? Of course, with all the contention that has mounted against his cover of Britany Sphears, uhem, Spears's "Oops, I Did It Again", some wonder what this band could possibly be up to next.Bodom's cover of Slayer's Silent Scream makes no exception to the reputation of COB in that it is aggressive, clean, and surgical to the point of Cenobesque pleasures. I love the fact that of cover such as this one in no way required a departure from COB's usual approach to music with the exlusion being the more militant march feel rather than the more straight ahead momentum their music usually carries, still this only adds to their repertoiur of sound and serves to further enhance their dialouge. Slayer fans will apreciate the fact that the guitar solo's are left soundly intact tone and all in as much as Alexi has played them, not so as much with Janne "Warman" Virtanen's keyboard interpretation, his outstanding technical ability is well pronounced and can in no way be said to deminish or be deminished by the overall harsh feel of Scream. That said, if you havn't already got a copy of the Deluxe edition of Something Wild, Needled 24/7 single and/or the deluxe edition of Hate Crew Deathroll then find a friend who does, or go poney up for a copy of your own and listen to this track, add it to your favorites and bang your head till your hair scrapes the dirt!
