Uncle Sam taught him to shoot
Maybe a little too well
Finger on the trigger, loaded bullet
He hit the stage so full of rage
And let the whole world know it
Six feet away, they heard him say
“Oh God, don’t let him pull it”
Please God, don’t let him pull it
How could you put us through it?
His brother watched you do it
How could you take his life away? (What makes you think you have the right?)
How could you be so full of hate? (To take away somebody's life)
And when I heard you let him die
And made the world all wonder why
I sat at home and on my own, I cried alone, and scratched your name
On the side of a bullet
And in the wake of his mistake
So many lives are broken
Gone forever from a loaded bullet
And no excuse that you could use
Could pull somebody through it
And to this day so many say
“God why’d you let him do it?”
How Could you let him do it?
How could you put us through it?
His brother watched you do it
How could you take his life away? (What makes you think you have the right?)
How could you be so full of hate? (To take away somebody's life)
And when I heard you let him die
And made the world all wonder why
I sat at home and cried alone, and on my own
and scratched your name
On the side of a bullet
How could you take his life away? (What makes you think you have the right?)
How could you be so full of hate? (To take away somebody's life)
And when I heard you let him die
And made the world all wonder why
I sat at home and cried alone, and on my own
and scratched your name
On the side of a bullet
On the side of a bullet
On the side of a bullet
On the side of a bullet

Review about Side of a Bullet We will a remember December Eighth | Reviewer: ripdime13231 | 4/8/09
There's really not all that much more to say that hasn't been voiced a thousand times. Dime was and is the best guitarist ever to walk the face of the earth, with thunderous riffs, huge, soaring solos, and a personality that defies the conventional, egotistical stereotype of a heavy metal guitarist. May we only hope Heaven has a stage and a Dean so Dime can continue his legacy and continue to stun audiences from above, even though the memory on earth still remains.
P.S. I can only thank God Dime died instantly, and did not suffer. I also take solace in knowing that the MOTHERFUCKING, COCKSUCKING, BASTARD FUCK (May his name be cursed for eternity) Nathan Gale is suffering, in eternal agony as he forever endures the deepest, darkest, and most evil inferno of Hell, as Dime watches on from above, smiling that same smile he did at every concert, at every friend, at every thing. R.I.P., Dime, I will love you music forever and will continue to do so even as I join you in Heaven.
P.S.S. And thank you Nickelback, for writing this song. Normally your soft-rock sound is a little light for me (and I'm saddened by Chad's vocals, as I wonder what his Corey Taylor/Pat Lachman impression would sound like), but the flow in 'Side of A Bullet" is just what I needed to hear after any song featuring Dime's guitar. By the way, thanks for including his solo. It was such a small gesture, but it made my eyes water as I heard the sweet, familiar sound.

Dimebag | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/23/08
Yes this song was in fact dedicated to the guitarist Darrell Lance Abbott "Dimebag Darell".
The guitar solo you hear in the song was Dimebags.
Dimebag was killed by a madman ex US marine that fired a gun 15 times and still had 35 rounds left when he himself was killed. On top of Dimebag both the drummer and the tour manager was injured several times.
December 8th 2004 was a sad day.
RIP Dimebag.

Yes indeed...a sad, sad day it was, when dime was taken from us in a HORRIBLE way. The man was and ALWAYS will be a musical genius. Thank you nickelback for writing this song...it gives me chills everytime....I love you nickelback and DIME......I think of you each day when I pick up my guitar. I love you dime!!! RIP darlin.
It was a sad day for music when Dimebag died. They should build a statue in his memory. At least the killer got what he deserves. I really respect that cop for what he did. he is a hero in my eyes.
Angus Young | Reviewer: Angus Young | 1/1/08
Angus Young is the best guitarist to ever play. His crazy antics and his duckwalk while playing make him so awesome!! His solos are uncomprahendable. In one of AC/DC's live shows, Angus runs up to this second story balcony and stands on the railing with no harness and no net below him and plays one of the best solos ever! Top that!!!!!!!!! R.I.P Bon Scott, forever your songs will reside with us!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!1
black toothed grin forever ! | Reviewer: clarke | 12/25/07
dime was a pioneer of the whammy style he used. tweeking harmonics, making crazy sounds that sounded perfect. he was a musical master of rythm and lead. we miss you dime!
