Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades Lyrics
Artist(Band):Brand New
Keep the noise low.
She doesn't wanna blow it.
Shaking from head to toe
while your left hand does "the show me around."
Quickens your heartbeat.
It beats me straight into the ground.
You don't recover from a night like this.
A victim still lying in bed, completely motionless.
A hand moves in the dark to a zipper.
Hear a boy bracing tight against sheets barely whisper,
"This is so messed up."
Upon arrival the guests had all stared.
Dripping wet and clearly depressed,
he'd headed straight for the stairs.
No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch,
unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships.
(Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.)
He keeps his hands low.
He doesn't wanna blow it.
He's wet from head to toe and
his eyes give her the up and the down.
His stomach turns and he thinks of throwing up.
But the body on the bed beckons forward
and he starts growing up.
The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed, but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
She hits the lights.
This doesn't seem quite fair.
Despite everything he learned from his friends,
he doesn't feel so prepared.
She's breathing quiet and smooth.
He's gasping for air.
"This is the first and last time," he says.
She fakes a smile and presses her hips into his.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He's holding back from telling her
exactly what it really feels like.
He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast, and all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her,
but she's probably only looking for sss...
(Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.)
So much more than he could ever give.
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He waits for it to end
and for the aching in his guts to subside.
The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed, but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.
Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.
The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed, but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.

Ok,so this is a REALLy good song!Brand New is the best shit since The Almost or Underoath!
And actually, sex does mean love, true maybe not in these days and times, but for some people it could mean everything.I actually know a GUY,yes a male that thinks sex is like an invisible wedding ring,he wont have sex with anyone he doesnt love or wanna spend the rest of his life with.He thinks it's saying I love you this much kinda,if you know what I mean[& Not in the gross way] but in the way,I trust you with everything way. This guy has taught me so much. He's amazing and that's why I love him.:)
And no,we havent had sex,we are fourteen and he already thinks that way.Remarkable right?
Awesome song | Reviewer: DJ | 2/20/09
I love this song and after so many years of listening to brand new I never really took the time to analyze and look into the lyrics. I knew what the song was about and my friends and I talked about it but today, I just really just read the words.
That's a pretty much powerful statement the song is trying to make and not mention the little story that describes it, its quite interesting. The video is even more amazing. I can never get enough of it.

Not.
Becky, if you can read English as poorly as you can type it, you would read..
"He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast, and all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her,
but she's probably only looking for sss..."
Next time you try to be the world's internet love and relationship counselor, it would help to read the material you're making a statement about..
Whoa. | Reviewer: Becky | 12/18/08
So if you want to get technical about it, sex doesn't really have anything to do with love. You could go out and have sex with the first random person you see, so where's the love. So really, if the guy wanted it to actually be special, maybe he should've gotten a girl he loved, instead of a herpe-infested hoe.
But... I still live this song :)
Lovin it .... | Reviewer: Clara | 9/29/08
i love how they switched it around and show a nervous boy's point of view lol but wow lyrics awesom-ness... i really feel for anyone who this happens to.... young people need to learn to respect thers desisions butttt then again who thinks in the heat of the moment... poor guy lol

I think this is him talking about giving up his virginity when he wasn't completly ready to. Like he wanted it to be special but she didn't care, she just wanted sex, while he was trying to make it special. The meaning of this song is obvious, jesse lacey is the most amazing writer ever, and its an amazing song.

Sex has nothing to do with love in this day and age.
Fair enough, a couple of decades ago it was like precious, and really meant something, but the fact that there are so many 13 year old girls pregnant, fathers who leave them and people who turn a blind eye to this even happening, shows that society just doesn't really care.
This is an amazing song, and you can read into it a lot...
about how men are just as sensative as women
and how women can take advantage too
But at the end of the day
Its pretty rare for the woman to be that forceful about it, compared to testosterone ego ridden males, to be fair.
I mean its not about rape, but being pushy about it, and when I was a virgin, It was males who were more forward, and naggy about having sex, not me.
TBF, guys who are the ones feeling like theyre being forced into having sex and don't know whether they are ready...just know that your like millions of girls who feel like that.
Your probably gay.

i think it's about him giving his v-card to someone when he doesn't want to. not like rape, but he's not ready but his friends are making fun of him for being a virgin, so he finds a easy girl, does her, and hates himself afterwards because it didn't mean anything.

Ok, so i love this song and most people understand the lyrics well but some people don't understand the title. sic transit Gloria translates directly to glory fades and it is whispered to the pope when he is being named pope, three times the ceremony is stopped and one of the highest priests whispers sic transit Gloria to the pope to remind him not to get full of himself and to work for others because his glory will only fade.
if i was and help to anyone thats great, if not blow me. peace :D
