Shout Lyrics - Tears For Fears

Review The Song (18)

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you come on

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

In violent times, you shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white, they really really ought to know
Those one track minds that took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye, you shouldn't have to jump for joy
You shouldn't have to (jump for joy)

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

They gave you life, and in return you gave them hell
As cold as ice, I hope we live to tell the tale
I hope we live (to tell the tale)

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

{Instrumental break}

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

And when you've taken down your guard
If I could change your mind, I'd really love to break your heart
I'd really love to (break your heart)
Shout, shout, let it all out (break your heart)
These are the things I can do without (I'd really love to break your heart)
Come on, I'm talking to you come on

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Coooome on, I'm talking to you, come on

(Guitar solo)

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on

(They really really ought to know) Shout, shout, let it all out
(Really really ought to know) These are the things I can do without
(They really really) Come on, I'm talking to you
(They really really ought to know) come on

Shout, shout, let it all out (I'd really love to break your heart)
These are the things I can do without (I'd really love to break your heart)
Come on, I'm talking to you so come on

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on...(fade)

Months after, I know... But, Ruby, if you haven't already broken up with your bf, I would like you to consider the possibility that you are reading way too far into it. This is a great song. I would play it for my girlfriend just because it's a great song. Maybe that's all this was: he was sharing a favorite of his with you.

inb4 giving internet advice is stupid
I couldn't help myself this time.

if your boyfriend plays this song for you, what should I be thinking? I doubt he wants me to "shout shout LET IT ALL OUT", he doesn't really seem to be interested in hearing my feelings.
The "I really want to break your heart" part did just that...broke my heart.
I wish I knew what "the things I could live without" are. Anybody got a clue?

The '80s... | Reviewer: KV | 8/21/11

...were not the best decade in my life, but the music was wonderful. I appreciated the spirit of it as well as the remarkable international influence. The music of the next decade tended toward depressing and hopeless. I was a DJ in the '90s, and the songs brought my mood down every shift. The music of the '80s will always retain a warm spot in my heart.

I was there | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/9/11

In the 80's I watched an interview on MTV of Tears for Fears explaining the lyrics to this song. There was a therapy back then called shout. A person would sit in a circle with other members of their group and stand up and shout out loud the things in their lives that troubled them. The idea was to shout out all the pain.

Shout is a song that transcends all. It is one of those songs that can be enjoyed by all ages, gender, and ethnicities. I was one of the lucky ones that got to hear this when it first hit the radio. I was a 6-year-old that always gave my mom hell so sometimes she locks me up in a small storage room in our garage. That's where I discovered my very first radio, which resembled a tape recorder. I pluged it in and after turning the knob a few times, I discovered shout. That was one song I constantly searched for on that radio everytime. I was such a lucky kid. I'm sure everyone has their own cherished memories with this song, and if you don't, it's not too late to get some now. SHOUT SHOUT Let it all out! Come on, I'm talking to you. Come on.

@lea: let it "aloud"?? that doesn't really make any sense to me at all! of course they're singing: "let it all out", i think it's clear to understand. and as for the lyrics-sites, one is copying from the other, so they all have the same mistakes, sometimes some lyrics are even totally wrong.

@ish talker: why do you attack other people 'cause of their opinion? i can't understand your problem! it's a fact the TFF-lyrics are partly dark and gloomy, a lot of people say that. but it's also cheerful. and yes, i do also think their music is soulful and meaningful. probably you don't know their story and don't get the statement behind the lyrics. many people (incl me) are linked by the same fate and i'm taking comfort from their music and it's giving me hope!! if your childhood was the way it should be, then i'm really glad for you, but there are things in life you'll never understand! TFF really mean a lot to me!!!

Go back to school! | Reviewer: ish talker | 3/5/10

elad: I guess you were still trying to pass third grade english when this song came out, or maybe you still are. "lyrics so dark and full of "contents" and soul". So the song is full of contents? You should be a professional critic. Maybe you can team up with George W and teach english class in pre-school.

Question | Reviewer: Lea | 6/4/09

Ok... this is just kind of a random question about the song lyrics.... ive seen several lyric sites typing the lyrics as "shout, shout, let it aloud.... but to me that sounds wrong! do you know if yours is TRUELY the right lyric and they are wrong? or do we BOTH have it wrong? I have to say "all out" makes more sense to me though!

80's - forever! | Reviewer: nick | 4/12/09

You know what, I guess those bands like Tears for Fears, Journey etc from 80's will stay FOREVER! Sometimes I wish I could go back to the 80's. That was an incredible time! I'm happy that I was growing among that unforgivable spirit of 80's! Can anyone recall something remarkable from 90's? 80's, please come back again!!!

Classic 80s anthem | Reviewer: Elad | 1/19/09

As one who grow up in the 80s I can say this was and still one of my favorite songs of all time.
There is so much energy and power in the music and the lyrics so dark and full of contents and soul.
This one is hall of fame

Amazing! <3 | Reviewer: Leah | 9/9/08

I was born in the early 90's, but I've been going on a eighties craze for a while now, and I must say that right now I really wish that I was born then, because I would have been able to hear this amazing song as soon as it came out! I dunno what it is but as soon as I listen to it it transports me there....I just love this song! It is my favourite, and probably will be for a very long time! Love you, Tears for Fears! <3

Ultimate wake up song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/8/07

This song is amazing! When I was little, my Dad used to put this on really loud on his huge stereo system to wake us up in the morning. The whole family would sing it out loud! I'll never forget those times. The music of Tears for Fears is part of a deep bond between my brother, my Dad, and myself. I love it.
