GOD IS GOD HE LOVES EVERYONE-though if you dont accept him you will go to hell. The pause before 'happy' is for the RHYTHM of the song. Otherwise they would need another syllable in that line. No one seems to be complaining the equivalent pause in the middle of 'origami', because they can tell it's for the rhythm of the song. These are exactly the same!

This is a great song both musically and lyrically.

I agree with the comment that if someone thinks this is putting down homosexuals then it's more than a paranoia, it's an insecurity also, and a guilt trip.

That activity of homosexuality is wrong morally, biblicaly, evolutionarily, atheistically, agnostic, islamicly hinduishly, buddhismaly, and SCIENTIFICALLY.

To prove it, left to them selves, a single sex, they could not reproduce, thus they would die along with their RELIGION, and yes each group above is it's form of faith, but only one is provable, all the others keep getting proved wrong and have to re-write their theories.

This is a good song, and I think that anyone who thinks it's bad (because of the bouncer line) should go back and read MissMartha's post; It makes sense. If you still think this song is down on gay people, for whatever reason, then you are probably hopelessly paranoid.
This song is merely about how is we let God's glory shine through us by acting how he says to in the Bible (not just the 10 commandments) and by doing that, we can change other people and cause unusual things to happen. That is all I have to say.

I'm sad to see the comments people are leaving here. People always want to over-analyze everything and LOOK for reasons to hate Christianity. This is a simple song. It's only saying that the power of God can make you do things you never thought possible. There really isn't anything negative to say about it. And with the gay thing, do you know how many songs on the radio degrade women? Because it's a Christian song, that means they can't talk about homosexuality? It never says anything hateful about people being gay. Why don't you go find REAL things to fight for, rather than digging for reasons to hate Christians?

This song is great! It's one of the best Newsboys songs to date.

I noticed several people dislike some of the lyrics. Why, I don't know. But the message of the song is for Christians to "shine" their light to all the nations, and that the love of God can change anyone's life.

I think everyone should just quit arguing and enjoy the song. It's one of the best Christian songs ever written, so just chill, and let's all try to "shine".

As for the controversy about God loving everyone, just read the Bible.

How can you sit there and speak that way about God and be okay with yourself?

Jesus died for EVERYONE. Not just the "good" people or who you believe is deserving of God..

Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Plead get your facts straight and try actually reading the bible before going out and giving Christians a bad name. Thanks!

If you look carefully at this song, you can see it's not about "anti this- pro this" Just read this line "That would make an Eskimo renounce fur
That would make a vegetarian barbecue hamster" This is obviously not stating that they're against OR for animals, since that would be an oxy-moron. The song is just saying that the amazing power of God's love can make you do the exact opposite of what's expected.. what's standard.

Reading through some of the posts I was surprised at how upset some were at the lyrics. I take the song for what it is, an expression of what Gods love has the ability to do. I personally am a bouncer and have done so at several area bars and dance clubs, my brother was armed security at a couple strip clubs in the area as well as a fill in at a well known gay club. My brother was killed by a drunk last year but he nor I hated a single one of them, even the drunk that killed him. THATS what Gods love can do. I am 6'8" 450 pounds and do you know what? We BOTH took Balet as children. God loves everyone, and no matter how hard it is, so do I. THATS the kind of thing God's love can do for you.

Heath, I don't know if you ACTUALLY consider yourself a christian, or if you're some punk who thinks he knows what being christian means but...John 3:16 "For God so loved THE WORLD that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life". forget the bouncer, forget the eskimo, forget the dictator (for a bit). read the chorus. it just tells Christians to be happy, joyful and to be full of life, set an example that would make others wonder why they are so happy (shine, make ´em wonder what you´ve got). It's technically a song for Christians to set an example, not a song that forces Christianity down the throat of non-Christians. it's really a narrow minded thinking pattern to just focus on the bouncer (as I have noticed here) and not quenching on the whole song and understand it truly.

He most certainly does not Mikey, and if you choose the wrong side there will, literally, be Hell to pay. If Christianity bothers you because it doesn't say that everything everyone does is fine and dandy, that's your cross to bear, not ours.

I guess what bothers you most is that Christians (you know - that group, that crowd, "those people") judge others. Unlike yourself.
