"Picking Up the Pieces" On the surface, Seventh Day Slumber doesnt sound much different from other modern rock bands. They belt out catchy hooks behind throbbing guitars while singing about real-life problems confronting many young people like addiction, suicide and depression. But what sets this Christian rock band apart? Seventh Day Slumber sings about solutions. "There are things going on with Christian kids that no one wants to talk about because were supposed to be happy," said Joseph Rojas, lead singer and guitarist for SDS. "When talking about those issues, we always paint Christ as the answer to hurting people and tough situations." I found out through a phone call and how I questioned God's plan. In the end, God is in control and has a Big Plan for all of our lives and even our deaths. It's like this song was written for me. I just lost my brother in a tragic car accident...on a Saturday. I can't get the phone call out of my mind. I am having such a hard time with his death and this song hit it head on. It really is so hard to keep your heart close to God when the question of "Why" is overtaking your mind and there is no answer. You have to just believe that He's God and thats the only answer for me now. Now for a review of the song... This song carries such a strong and important message in it. It tells us that NO MATTER WHAT WE DO, WE CANNOT SEPARATE GOD FROM US!!! He SPILLS his love over us so much that its like the oceans! Who has NEVER seen an ocean?!? ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS! GOD'S LOVE FOR US IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS! When they played this song at that concert, Joseph (singer) sang it in spanish and i know from listening to music in the spanish language then translating it to English and trying to sing it (or english to spanish) to the same tune/beat that it rarely sounds good. THIS SONG WAS SANG PERFECTLY IN BOTH LANGUAGES AND BOTH LANGUAGES SOUNDED LIKE THEY BELONGED! MORE THAN A COINCIDENCE THERE! The first time i heard it was when it was pitched for me to sing when i was leading worship for my youth group. One of the members of the band suggested it. I listened to the song and i have falled in love with it. I was reading reviews about this song and one person said god doesnt make oceans from the rain. They said we need to be versed in his word. I agree we do but the word in the begginig of the bible up till the great flood was one solid mass. The flood happened and oceans were formed. God took an act of punishment to the human race and made something beautiful out of it made the word we have today with high mountains and gorges and other things like that. That is what they are getting that line from. If u listen to the end of the song ull hear a backround vocal saying "wash it all away" because durring the flood thats exactly what god did he washed everything away and created someting new.
