"Picking Up the Pieces" On the surface, Seventh Day Slumber doesnt sound much different from other modern rock bands. They belt out catchy hooks behind throbbing guitars while singing about real-life problems confronting many young people like addiction, suicide and depression. But what sets this Christian rock band apart? Seventh Day Slumber sings about solutions. "There are things going on with Christian kids that no one wants to talk about because were supposed to be happy," said Joseph Rojas, lead singer and guitarist for SDS. "When talking about those issues, we always paint Christ as the answer to hurting people and tough situations." My best friend (a guy I had a thing with) and brother in the Lord had left God. He was starting to come back but than his ex (from when he left God) informed him she was now pregnant with his child. She had just given her life to Christ than found out. She called me when she got the confirmation, looking for Christ's love and strength. That Saturday was the worst day of my entire year. He was my best friend, brother in the Lord, and at one time more... but I knew it would never be the same no matter what we wished or even if He stayed with God. But this song to me was a cry from my broken heart at the fact that although I felt barley alive anymore, I was still going to be on my knees broken and all before Jesus. I had been Caroline at one point, and this song really turns things around. God seems to play it all the right times for me. I listened to this song right before I found out about every suicide in my high school; and I was listening to it at the very moment in which we found my friend, Joshua's, body after his suicide. I found out through a phone call and how I questioned God's plan. In the end, God is in control and has a Big Plan for all of our lives and even our deaths. It's like this song was written for me. I just lost my brother in a tragic car accident...on a Saturday. I can't get the phone call out of my mind. I am having such a hard time with his death and this song hit it head on. It really is so hard to keep your heart close to God when the question of "Why" is overtaking your mind and there is no answer. You have to just believe that He's God and thats the only answer for me now. Now for a review of the song... This song carries such a strong and important message in it. It tells us that NO MATTER WHAT WE DO, WE CANNOT SEPARATE GOD FROM US!!! He SPILLS his love over us so much that its like the oceans! Who has NEVER seen an ocean?!? ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS! GOD'S LOVE FOR US IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS! When they played this song at that concert, Joseph (singer) sang it in spanish and i know from listening to music in the spanish language then translating it to English and trying to sing it (or english to spanish) to the same tune/beat that it rarely sounds good. THIS SONG WAS SANG PERFECTLY IN BOTH LANGUAGES AND BOTH LANGUAGES SOUNDED LIKE THEY BELONGED! MORE THAN A COINCIDENCE THERE!
