Set Sail The Prairie Lyrics
Artist(Band):Kaddisfly
Review The Song (1)Print the Lyrics
Just one fundamental notion of the sun...
Just one notion fundamental to our blood
We're all perfect, lost in our ways
Find a hole in the ground and fall
Through to the stars

:chorus:
Look at my skin it smiles for you
The color of absent minds worn through

In moments past, fragments of a
Recollection, an utterance
Show mercy to those who act in ignorace,
For the simple fact that you too are ignorant

We're all lost, floating about (in space)
Without the love that painted the
Scene, drew everything,
All of our being (all-ways)

:chorus:

Review about Set Sail The Prairie

Kaddisfly- Set Sail the Prairie | Reviewer: Daniel | 1/27/2007

Kaddisfly is a rock/progressive/experimental band, that really doesn’t even fit in those confides, from Portland, Oregon. 'Set Sail the Prairie' is the band's second release under their current label, their first being titled 'Buy Our Intentions, We'll Buy You a Unicorn.' This new record sounds like quite a step forward for the band, and seems like an answer to some of the critics of 'Buy Our Intentions...'. Where many said that album was scattered, unfocused, and in need of some editing, they could now say the exact opposite. Kaddisfly did a magnificent job arranging this album, recording the songs in a way to represent the twelve months of the year, in addition to the two solstices, making for 14 tracks on the new album. The band says the concept will be best understood with the album artwork, but listeners can get the feeling just by listening to the music. This was an album designed to be cohesive, and even though the songs cover a broad spectrum of styles, the course is well-defined. The first half of the album tends to be brighter, more upbeat, and catchier while the second half of the album is more melodic. Each of the songs (months), flow seamlessly into each other, not necessarily in style, but in feeling. The album begins with the summer solstice, a short intro that brings listeners into one of the album's catchiest tunes, 'Campfire'. With an upbeat guitar riff in the foreground, the song progresses seamlessly to a chorus where the singer, Christopher Ruff, is at his best. The next two tracks, ‘Waves’ and ‘Harbor’ both have lush, trippy guitars and highlight the band’s great ability to frequently change pace and style within the boundaries of a single track. As the album passes through summer and fall, fans of Glassjaw especially will appreciate and enjoy the most aggressive track on the album, ‘Clouds’. The album is brought to a climax at the end of ‘Winter Solstice’ that continues into the next track titled ‘Snowflakes’. The song that represents December is a musical rollercoaster full of twists and turns that last nearly 8 minutes. It is as soft as it is heavy, and everything in between. The nearly two-minute long breakdown/outro will leave you looking for b-sides. The remaining tracks on the album are more subtle, moody, and intriguing. ‘Via Rail’ and ‘Silk Road’ are lyrical journeys, and ‘Mercury’, possibly the simplest and most straightforward track on the album, is perhaps the most intriguing and memorable. The writing is remarkable and original, and the chorus will be stuck in your head for days. The album ends with two interesting tracks, ‘Clockwork’ and ‘Forest’. ‘Forest’ is just over 11 minutes long and is notable because it is an 11 minute track that you’ll actually put in your play list often. Yes, it’s epic, and so is this record. ‘Set Sail the Prairie’ is Kaddisfly’s best work to date, the production value is outstanding, and the originality is striking. It’s not easy writing a review of an album that you have such a hard time comparing to others. Whether taken track for track, or as a whole, this album will disappoint few.
