Savior Lyrics - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Review The Song (6)

Dusting off your savior
You were always my favorite
Always my man
All in a hand
To celebrate you is greater
Now that I can
Always my man

Now you see what I came for
No one here is to blame for
Misunderstand
All in a hand
Just like you cause you make me
All that I am
All in a hand

A butterfly that flaps its wings
Affecting almost everything
The more I hear the orchestra
The more I have something to bring
And now I see you in a beautiful and different light
He's just a man and any damage done will be all right
Call out my name
Call and I came

Dusting off your savior
Forgiving any behavior
He's just a man
All in a hand
Your hero's destined to waver
Anyone can
Always my man

I would never betray you
Look at me who could raise you
Face in the sand
Safe in your hand
You were always my favorite
Always my man
All in a hand

We are the red hots
And we're loving lots the love me nots
The flowers in your flower pot
Are dancing on the table tops
And now I see you in a beautiful and different light
He's just a man and everything he does will be all right
Call out my name
Call and I came

Dusting off your savior
The life that you have narrated
You were my man

Not only after reading 'Scar Tissue' have I reached the conclusion that this song is about Blackie Dammet, his father.
Blackie also mentions this song in an interview about parents of rock stars, where he reads parts of the song and says that he wrote this about their relationship.

John Frusciante | Reviewer: Senna | 6/8/12

This song is about John Frusciante and his coming back to the band, saving it from the ultimate failure that the Dave Navarro era was.

These lyrics are basically Anthony Kiedis openly apologizing for the way he behaved towards John when he was in the band for the first time.

Do some research.

it's about his dad | Reviewer: Margo | 3/8/12

this whole song is about his dad, and how his dad got him on drugs, he's pretty much saying that his dad fucked up, but he still loves him "your hero's destined to waver, anyone can" "he's just a man, and any damage done will be alright"

this song was definitely written about their friend and former bandmate Hillel Slovack who overdosed on purpose to finnally kill his heroin addiction as written in Otherside. the song Otherside is sang by Anthony Kiedis as if he was Hillel.

Actually i'm fairly sure this song is written about Anthony's father. If you have read Scar Tissue you would know about the close bond they shared particularly when Kiedis was a young boy growing up. They did however, have their falling outs which are expressed in lines such as
Dusting off your savior
Forgiving any behavior
He's just a man
All in a hand
Your hero's destined to waver
Anyone can
Always my man

Hillel? | Reviewer: copenhagen | 9/20/09

I'm not actually sure if this song was written about Hillel Slovak, I've been a massive fan of the Chili's for years now I was born in '95 and i fell in love in '99 so it's been about 10 years. I've since gone out and bought every single album of theirs so I know their history and discography pretty well. This song has been favourite of mine since I was 4 but it hasn't been til just now (14) that I thought this song could possibly be about Hillel, so if someone could clear that up for me that would be great
