Sara Lyrics - Fleetwood Mac

Review The Song (20)

Wait a minute baby,
Stay with me awhile...
Said you'd give me light
But you never told me about the fire.

Drownin', in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown.
But now it's gone, it doesn't matter what for.
So when you build your house, then call me home.

And HE was just like a great dark wind
Within the wings of a storm.
I think I had met my match.
He was singin'
And undoing and undoing
Oooooooo, the laces, undoing the laces.

He said "Sara, you're the poet in my heart,
sponsored links
Never change, never stop..."
But now it's gone, it doesn't matter what for,
But when you build your house, then call me home.

Hold on, the night is comin'
And the starling flew for days.
I'd stay home at night all the time,
I go anywhere - anywhere - anyway...

Ask me and I'm there, yeah,
Ask me and I'm there, 'cause I care.
In the sea of love, where every woman would love to drown.
But now it's gone, they say it doesn't matter anymore.
If you build your house, then please call me home.

"Sara, you're the poet in my heart,
Never change, and don’t you ever stop..."
But now it's gone; no, it doesn't matter anymore.
When you build your house, I’ll come by.

Ooooooooo, Sara
Ahhhhhhh, Oooooooo

Oh...Oooooooo, Sara, baby
There was a heartbeat and it never really died,
Yes it never really died.
Oh will you swallow your pride?

All I ever wanted was to know that you were dreaming...

We named our daughter after this song, sadly she wasn't with us for long but will always live on in our hearts & memories. When I hear this song it takes me to a special place in my heart, I dream of the day we will all be together again.

Perfect fit | Reviewer: Sara | 3/12/13

I am a published poet and was named after this song. My "mother" listened to this while pregnant with me and I was named this way. We aren't close so I would like to dedicate this to my friends who took me in while I was in high school and raised me. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be me. I love you mama Cheynne and Daddy Danny. <3

Still gets to me. | Reviewer: D.L.Olmstead | 3/2/12

I fell in love for the first time when this song became popular and it will always bring me back to the best time in my life. I will love her until the day I die, even though it's been many, many years. We used to listen to this song and dream about our own "house". How I wish my Mary Ann Robinson would come back to me so I can tell her that she will always be my forever love that I will never ever forget.

One of the best songs ever | Reviewer: Liza | 2/29/12

I dreamt of you and you died when I was 27 | Reviewer: Jacs Metelica | 5/18/10

This song was from David of Rutland VT. to me and not Sara..My prince charming died in a car crash when I was 27 and he was 5 years older than me working in Amherst, MA the year this song came out. He was building a house leaving me with the promise of the fire. The beauty in this song transcended my pain and brought the beauty of our time together into my heart to hold on a little longer while I healed.

So Dreamy | Reviewer: Fleetwood Mac Fan | 11/14/09

An amazing song that perfectly showcases Stevie's gravelly, unique, and dreamy voice. I'm a singer myself, and this is one of my favorite songs to sing - the audience loves it also. When I sing this song, it takes me to a dreamy, special place - it's magical!

I've got tickets to Fleetwood Mac for a concert next month! I can't wait to hear Stevie sing this in person (I've seen her once before). Fleetwood Mac are my favorite all-time band!

Thanks for giving us this beautiful song!

for my little poet | Reviewer: sheila | 9/30/09

i did, i named my daughter after this song but her name is spelled sarah. she is now 24 years old. she plays guitar and is the free-est spirit. she has been on stage many times in front of audiances. she is bueatufull. and she is the poet in my heart. i remember watching stevie nicks, fleetwood mac, on HBO in the early 80,s. my husband was so jealous, he accused me of being gay because i was so mesmerized. ive never been gay and i fought with him for days over that concert. i still am mesmerized by this band and the grandest of all women singers, stevie nicks. isnt that something.

Magic | Reviewer: waterbabies | 7/17/09

When my first son was born he was so hard to settle. I used to put this on and rock him, he was only a couple of months old and it was like magic, he'd stop crying straight away and really listen, it was amazing to watch. And the best thing of all... he'd fall asleep. Even now, so many years later (7), when I play it I watch his reaction, it's there in his subconscious somewhere. He says he loves this song too.

My favorite song of all time. | Reviewer: Cliff | 4/8/09

This song is so special to me. "But when you build your house, then, call me,home." I love this line, and I want to build a house for my wife. Well what can I say. This song has memories attach to it from way back to now. Love it all.

This is so cool! :)

Dedicated to Cody..whom I love so much | Reviewer: anonymous | 7/13/08

This is very true. I dedicate "Sara" because we had some rough times when we first met..and hearing this song pretty much describes the emotions and the sense and sea of love..where everyone loves to drown. I fell right in love with him. This is a great song.

The song I was named after! | Reviewer: Sarah | 11/19/07

Ok, well, I'm 15. But I love all kinds of music. And this has to be one of my all time favorite songs. And not because my dad named me for the song. It's an amazing song, and everything about this song to me is just... wow. ^-^ I've always loved Stevie's voice, and I love singing this song. I've had it on repeat most of the day. <3

What a song! | Reviewer: Faisal | 11/7/07

WoW, heard this song again after so many years! It still sounds as good as it did when I first heard it. Fleetwood Mac have recorded so many great timeless tracks. What a band!

I've even got my wife in to Fleetwood Mac and their songs. She loves 'em. And by the way, guess what her name is: Sarah!
