The song is about drugs. It's as if the drugs were talking to him, telling him to lie, cheat, steal to get his high. "They betray, I'm your only true friend now." It steals the guy's trust and makes his life consumed by drugs. "I'm your dream, make you real." It's talking about how, once high, things are surreal and dream-like, yet at the same time it makes you feel good, makes you feel real. The epiphany comes at the end, with "I'm you." All this time, he has felt that he could keep his new habit under control, but by the end of the song, he's gone too far. It's sad but true; the drugs have taken over, and that's all he has been reduced to.
