Love stimulated my illusions

And when I went skating after Golden Reggie
You know it was white lace I was chasing
Chasing dreams
Mama's nylons underneath my cowgirl jeans

Still veils this reckless fool here

Now there are 29 skaters on Wolmann rink

Joni wrote this song to her friend up in Canada and it never fails to move me even to this day. It's basically a letter to Sharon talking about her experiences living as a famous singer alone in New York City. Joni tells Sharon not feel bad that she didn't make music her career. Sharon is really the lucky one with a family and Joni's just lonely and miserable. It's not just lyrics. It's pure poetic genius.
