Sometimes you can hear somebody's soul in their voice, and
that's what makes the sound beautiful. Sometimes they're
born to sing that way. And sometimes an even stranger
phenomenon occurs, they are born singing beautifully and
confidently, technically brilliant: and then they find
their own soul and you hear it. That is what has happened
with Russell Watson.
Everybody knows by now of the meteoric rise of the factory
worker from Salford who became miraculously catapulted into
international singing stardom, sold millions of records and
sang for The Pope, presidents, prime ministers, Posh and
Becks, Camilla and Charles.
This past year though he has remained quiet. Perhaps we

------ About artist/band Russell Watson
I am one of thousands of 'older ' fans of Russell Watson. I went to Russell's concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007 and to the Royal Festival Hall this year in June 2008. I am a retired lady and in all my years I have never heard anyone with such a wonderful voice who often moves me to tears with the emotion and passion in the songs that he sings, particularly Elgar's Nimrod on the Amore Musica CD. I have collected all of his CD's and have the greatest of pleasure of listening to them at home and in the car.
He is such a 'normal' person who's fame has not affected his way of life and really wants to sing for those who admire him and have supported his career.
I also like the fact that he is producing a wide variety of music not just opera.I look forward to his next CD - whenever it is.

A Very Stunning Concert.- June 21st 2008, Sheffield | Reviewer: Mary Carlton
------ About artist/band Russell Watson
I saw Russell in Sheffield, England on June 21st and the show was absolutely fantastic. I have already given my remarks on another part of the website but am still completeley awe struck at the beautiful voice which Russell has.
He sang to a sell out performance and his personality was just lovely too.
My mother died suddenly five years ago and being the eldest of four siblings, I chose the music and one of my choices was Russell's version of Ave Maria which was just simply breathtaking.
I was a little disappointed he didnt sing his version at the concert and would have liked to have requested the song but everyone was so eager to hug and kiss Russell and he seemed to have enough adoration and requests for the time.
However, I have never heard anyone sing it quite like Russell and my mother's deather was quite the saddest day of my life and I will remember Russell's voice forever.
I hope Russell stays well and continues to sing and will think of him in my prayers.
Well done Russell - keep it up.
With very best wishes.
Mary

A bit late in Russell's career, but I have only just discovefed him - at my girlfriend's house for dinner this weekend she played two of Russell;s CDs and I was blown away. Have been right out to buy The Ultimate Collection and Reprise today. Cannot wait to play them for other friends and my daughters and their families. Will definitely be following what Russell is doing and hope that he will be in Canada again (I read that he was here in 2005 but had not heard of him then.
