One of Iron Maiden's best songs.
Was just interested by a review (funny | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/20/10) as to why your native American wife would find this song offensive? (I could understand if she found it upsetting. There is nothing in it that I could see that would be offensive to a native American.
As for some of the other reviews / comments that seem to doubt how badly the natives were treated read (if you can read) "Bury my Heart at wounded Knee".
Chemical warfare was also invented during this time as the white men/government forces also traded blankets infected with small pox to the natives.
Also the majority of history is written by the winners so most of the atrocities will have been covered up as there would have been no survivors or no written evidence as the natives had an oral tradition of recording history

To the reviewer 'history fucking sucks'... What the hell? You're a freaking kid! Heck my brother is 13 and he knows this song is about the European conquest of America and the pillaging of the native Americans. How the hell do you think it's not historical? What do you see in the song, then? Shut up. You will learn when you hopefully progress that history is extremely important and Maiden bases many of their songs on historical events. Grow up.

i like the music video.i always thought black and white movies were funny because they look like they are sped up.no offense to anyone but in the video he looks like santa claus because he has a red shirt and black belt.i heard this song on the radio a couple times and didn't really know what they were saying but when i looked up the lyrics and watched the video i realized what they were saying.i don't really care what this song is about i just like it.if it is about the indians i think the we were WAY wrong.my friends think i am a geek because i am 11 and my favorite channels are syfy history and vh1 classic.

The white people could never find the indians, it was the indians who betrayed themselves and led the white man to the tribes and helped attack as well. Because the white man's leader told the w-men to trick the Indians, just like the leaders tricked and forced the white man to fight the indians, just like todays army is tricked into fighting in other countries. It all comes down to population control and distorting religions. They dont want you to know how powerful the ancient cree(religion) really is. The white man use to have the same cree as the indians. is it really that important? Its a good song, and in the end you never REALLY know what happened in history, you just have to trust sources.

This song is amazing.. and it doesnt only fit the American history but also Brazilian history since the Portuguese did to the Native Brazilians the same thing the British did to the Native Americans here in the US.. and also whoever is who said "If it wasn't the europeans it would have been the spaniards or the asians." godamn it how dumb can someone be to not know that SPANIARDS are fucking EUROPEANS?!?! gooosh ppl are so fucking dumb... It's weel known but suppress from school and history mainstream books than in all periods of time the Americans are murder other people and steel their property. Then they try to find excuses like war, disease, rasism or whatever to justify their scum and gangster policy. Their attitude is to make their childern thug to fight in vetnam, afghanistan, iraq, NATO etc. other people to establish junta dictatorship. That may be true, but we turned traitor on them and killed them in the belief of "Manifest Destiny". OK first off the natives lost their land in a fair fight. If it wasn't the europeans it would have been the spaniards or the asians. It would have happened one way or another. Especially since they were the only culture that had not advanced to the point of using fire arms. We (I am metis) also tend to forget that the europeans brought alot of benifits such as permenant shelter. Disease was inevitable. They would have been transfered to North America eventually. Not to mention no one realized that the indigenous people of North America had never been exposed to such diseases.

Ok first Indians come from India, this song is about first nations tribe(s)in america.

I'm Cree and this song is anything but offensive. Its all about perception. Of course you would never find this kind of "history" in our school books because there is no truth in the government. The government rules what we learn in history..do you think they want you to know that they intentionally forced assimilation and an extermination policy on another race? Maiden does a great job with this song...and for all you who disagree...read between the lines.

Those who post things like "this is the only Iron Maiden song I like", or "I like rock bands like AC/DC and Metallica" werent the ones that Iron Maiden made songs like this for. These are songs meant for Metal Heads, fans of heavy metal. Yes it talks about the native americans being massacred, but from the native americans point of veiw for the most part. it was writen by the bassist, and long before gameboys were around. This is in no way political, especially in the USA, the band is from London, England. Learn a little about Metal before you comment on it.
