Evolving from the late-'60s art-rock movement, Roxy Music
had a fascination with fashion, glamour, cinema, pop art,
and the avant-garde, which separated the band from their
contemporaries. Dressed in bizarre, stylish costumes, the
group played a defiantly experimental variation of art-rock
which vascillated between avant-rock and sleek pop hooks.
During the early '70s, the group was driven by the creative
tension between Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno, who each pulled
the band in separate directions: Ferry had a fondness for
American soul and Beatlesque art-pop, while Eno was
intrigued by deconstructing rock with amateurish

Review about Roxy Music Sounds like Eno | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Editions Of You performed by Roxy Music
I wonder if this one is really by Eno rather than Ferry. The lyrics sound alot like early Eno absurdities such as "The Seven Deadly Finns" and "Kings Lead Hat." Whichever Brian wrote it, it's a nice driving tune and in many ways a quintessential sound for the Roxy scene. This whole albume (For Your Pleasure) is a vast improvement over their first one (which is also good) and points toward the next two (Stranded and Country Life) which are the best Roxy albums. Eno left after For Your Pleasure and also proceeded to record a series of incredible albums. I guess there was just one too many Brians in Roxy--the split was ultimately good for both.

------ About the song Sea Breezes performed by Roxy Music
One of my favorite Roxy Music songs. In fact the entire album is a masterpiece. Haunting use of what sounds like an oboe along with a synth (organ) transitions into piano then just drums and a cool bass line and a bit of clarinet or oboe again with what alone would sound like electric guitar garbage, but fits nicely into the mix. Then back to the organ/oboe ending which is a repeat of the first paragraph of lyrics with of course, the sound of waves softly in the background.
Just a great tune, well planned and mixed with haunting lyrics.
Fab licks | Reviewer: Michael
------ About the song Grey Lagoons performed by Roxy Music
Hey! Simple lyrics, but a masterpiece of sax, bass and guitar. Extreme licks. This song got lost in the US...no idea where it ranks in the UK, but if you've not heard it, give a try. Late.
