Roses Lyrics - OutKast

Review The Song (28)

[Verse One - Andre 3000]
Caroline! [Caroline!]
See Caroline, all the guys would say she's mighty fine [mighty fine]
But mighty fine only got you somewhere half the time
And the other half either got you cursed out, or coming up short
Yeah, now dig this now, even though [even though]
You'd need a golden calculator to divide [to divide]
The time it took to look inside and realize
That real guys go for real down to Mars girls, yeah!

[Chorus - Repeat 2x]
I know you'd like to think your shit don't stank
But lean a little bit closer, see
Roses really smell like poo ooo oop
Yeah, roses really smell like poo ooo oop
Verse Two - Andre 3000]

Caroline! [Caroline!]
See she's the reason for the word witch [witch]
I hope she's speeding on the way to the club
Trying to hurry up and get to a
Bar or a recital or something like that
And try to put on her makeup in the mirror
And crash, crash, crash.. into a ditch! just playing
She needs a golden calculator to divide [to divide]
The time it takes to look inside and realize that
Real guys go for real down to Mars girls, yeah!

[Chorus 2x]

[Verse Three - Big Boi]
Well she's got the hottest body, but her attitude is potty
When I met her at a party she was hardly acting naughty
I said "Shorty, Would you call me?"
She said "Pardon me, are you balding?"
I said "Darling, you sound like a prostitute palsey"
Oh so you're one them freaks, get deep at the sight of an ATM receipt
But game been peeped, droppin' names she's weak
Trickin' off this bitch is lost
Must take me for a geek, a quick way to eat
A neat place sleep, a rent-a-car for a week, a trick for a treat now
Go on the raw sex, my AIDS test is flawless
Regardless, we don't want to get involved with all them lawyers
And judges, just to hold grudges in the courtroom
I wanna see your support bra not support you!

[Chorus - Repeat 4x]

[Repeat 2x]
Better come back down to Mars
your quick chasin' cars
What happens when the dough gets low
Bitch, you ain't that fine
No way.. no way.. no way crazy bitch. Crazy bitch. Crazy bitch. Crazy bitch. Crazy bitch. Crazy bitch. Crazy bitch. [Repeat 2x] (bitch). Crazy bitch. ( stupid ass bitch) crazy bitch. (old big ass bitch) crazy bitch (lil dumb ass bitch) crazy bitch ( a bitches bitch) crazy bitch.

Lucinda, this sing did not make your dauggter commit suicide!!! | Reviewer: Misty | 6/24/12

First of all I just want to say that I love this song.

Lucinda, this song has nothing to do with your daughter. I doubt she took her life because she heard this song.

This song is about relentless, heartless, gold digging women. Outkast doesn't know your daughter.

maybe she played this song simply because her name is Caroline, or she misunderstood what is was about.. Only she knows. But hearing a song that mentions a woman with the same name as you is not going to trigger suicidal thoughts.

You need to look deeper into what your daughter was actually going through. It may be easier to blame the writers of a song than find out what was really going on. It is unfair for you to blame outkast for using the name caroline. They do not know your daughter!

I hope you come back and read these comments.

Its not always like that. That just makes you A cynical prick when it comea to people.
and just throwing this out there what if this whole caroline suicide thing is fake. Posted by some anti rap derp dee derp.
P.s. how is this blasphemous and who says that anymore.

I have a few words to say.
First off I would like to say that this a great song.
Secondly, I would like to say to Lucinda, I am sorry for your loss. But do you honestly think that you should blame OutKast for your daughters death? I think not. It's absolutely ridiculous that you could think that. Now obvisoly it would be your first thought since that was the song playing on loop. Maybe you were pressuring her too much to be an angel.
The last thing I would like to say to the reviewer "bitch around da corner". You have no right to post things like that. This lady has been through a lot. When I have kids, and if one commited suicide, I'd be completely heartbroken. What you have said, it's offensive. Try actually spelling for once, so we can understand your rambling on about stupid shit. Lucinda may have not been a terrible parent, maybe some things she could've improved on, but not a bad parent. And for you saying all those aweful things. You should really apologize. Respect. And also don't use the word "retard". It is extremely offensive and people don't respect you for saying anything you said. Grow up, alright?

Love this song! | Reviewer: Kaitlyn R | 4/29/10

Lucinda you are truly crazy to think your daughter killed herself over a dumb song.. Maybe if you werent so busy pressuring her to be perfect you would know why! Im pretty sure all the "Ms Jacksons" werent hanging from their closets!! Get over it lady youre the reason she killed herself! End of discussion

Whoa, hold up. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/28/10

This suicide topic is very serious business. I understand that Outkast indirectly had an affect on Caroline, but think about it carefully: Did this song really talk about a real Caroline? (Maybe) Did they mean THIS ONE? (Probably not) So please take a second to really think about this. Yes, it is sad but these things do happen sometimes.

Hey twiddle dee,(8/7/09)
The only person at fault is Caroline for she is the one who killed herself. Sometimes a person just isn't strong enough to handle life. End of Story.

And twiddle dumb,(4/27/09)
You are an Idiot.

There are cases where Music does influence suicidal thoughts; just like it does with happy thoughts. Only caroline will know the truth. Everyone is allowed their opinion, even Lucinda. Even if it seems ludicrous to everyone else. Leave it be people!

Lucinda get over it! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/7/09

Lucinda you cant go blaming a group for your daughters death. its probably your fault. and you know what if you weren't so concentrated on hating outkast you'd realize you probably did something or she tried to tell you something but you ignored her!

Lucinda plz shut it | Reviewer: bitch around da corner | 4/27/09

IT is a very sad story about your daughter and there are many people out there that may seem to be perfectly fine and not show signs of depression but truthfully are deprressed and its hard to live your life being depressed and not geting help from a professional and this song couldve added to her stress but you can't blame them for this it most likely was not about your daughter they probably had no idea of your daughter

It's The Truth Being Spoken | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/27/09

Too many females are just like Caroline, chasing dudes for their cars and how much money they make. Sorry for the truth to hurt so bad, but if your Caroline was anything like this, you should've checked her a long time ago. Children often grow up doing things their parents did, so if she was living foul, she probably learned it from you. If you're looking for someone to blame for how things turned out, you should probably start in the mirror. One love to Outkast. Keep kicking that real.

Art... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/9/09

Art is what this song is. Outkast makes perfect songs with the right vocals, beats and other sounds. I love it to guts :).

To Lucinda,
Like others have said, I'm very sorry about your daughter, but to make an accusation that this song is the reason your Caroline committed suicide is not logical. Like you said, she was academically talented, thus smart, I'm sure she would have gotten over this song after hearing it a couple of times if it truly offended. Please don't hold Outkast responsible for her passing, they are simply artists who make music, never directed at anyone. If they admit to your daughter being a target, I am sincerely sorry for all these things that I have said and I am completely on your side.

Re: I loved you baby | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/22/09

Just wanted to let you know we all feel very bad for your loss, but blaming an artist for an unknown affect on a person who must have been already mentally ill is not the answer. Please try to see past your dislike for this song and try to see what it must have been that your daughter liked about them. They have brought hapiness to people with their art in the past. I'm sure it you listen with an open mind you would find comfort. Please, for your own sake, give it a try.

Caroline | Reviewer: Caroline | 1/13/09

My name really is Caroline, and i love this song. That is a tragic happening, and very unfortunate. However, i do not believe outkast has done anything immoral or offending. To blame Outkast, or to call them "blashphemous" when they are only pointing out how wrong it is for girls to be so materialistic and vain, seems very ill-directed and illogical.

Response on Suicide | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/16/08

A song has never made someone suddenly suicidal. There are many other conditions that pre-exist, and a song may serve as a catalyst motivating self-inflicted injuries. This means, tragically, that there were other factors in your daughter's life that made her feel the need to end it. This song WAS her suicide note. Obviously, she was trying to tell everyone something by leaving it for you, so instead of blaming the artist, maybe you need to look and see what your daughter was trying to tell YOU.

wait? lyrical question | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/20/08
