------ About the song Perfect Sense Part I & II performed by Roger Waters

I am from Iraq. I think it applies to all people. I think its about capitalism. the desperation and annihilation is capitalism (not greed), capitalism. Mr. Roger, please see the hopes in the anti-capitalist revolutions of the world. I was in Baghdad when US troops bombed it for many times with B52's (hahah rhymes?) in early nineties....then my 3 year old asked me same questions, irrelevant and out of context...but what is in-context back then? taping the windows fearing a chemical attack. How could I tell him we feared chemical or biological attack? how could I have explained ? and why? why has he been deprived? feared to death many many many times...why?....Well done Roger Waters. Well done.

2001: A space odysse | Reviewer: eee
------ About the song Perfect Sense Part I & II performed by Roger Waters

The quotes from HAL 9000 are interesting. It's at the start. A simple sound of a voice with a tribal drum. It's simple amusement for an ape. But the image, the message of is death. Dave is killing HAl, a conscious being. Murdering him for our entertainment. HAL can't get angry, but he knows that he can feel his mind going and wants that to stop. It's incredibly un-emotional, but we're supposed to feel for HAL.

The monkey staring at the bone in his hand is also from 2001: A.S.O. Memory is a stranger, and history is for fools. Because we can't stop doing the bad things. So he cleans his hands in the pool of holy writing, as if to ignore history and pretend it's all okay. But the soldiers have to hold on because no helps coming because we wont stop causing wars.

Gold and pride are the goals. All we see is death on television.

I think maybe the monkey being confused is a reference to the Monkey put into space by the Russians.

So this person tries to say "HEY!! EVERYTHING IS FUCKED!!!" and they say "Don't make us laugh, you're a smart Kid". So patronising. They tell him we're a tool for God, go find the Garden of Eden (invade the middle east) because that is where the Garden of Eden story was made.

But it does make sense when we express it with money as our goal.
If you say "why would anyone want to do this?! it's insane"
that is because you don't value money above everything.
The point of this song is it to make you one of those people.

IMO
TL:DR, It's about not living for greed.

Leaving Beirut | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Leaving Beirut performed by Roger Waters

I first heard this song a few years ago, live at General Motors Place in Vancouver.Roger told the story of his trip to Beirut before singing the song. I cried then, and again just now when I heard it. I do hope he performs this song this Friday when I see him for the second time at the same location which Ironically has now been re-named "Rogers Arena"

------ About the song Leaving Beirut performed by Roger Waters

I was on camp and thinking how everyone just wasn't co-operating and I kept thinking of this song on the way back on the bus. I just love protest songs and songs with huge amounts of emotion and meaning and this is one of them and I am not afraid to say this song has me on the verge of tears!

Mother... | Reviewer: Mark Fields
------ About the song Mother performed by Roger Waters

Probably THE most brilliant lyric Roger ever wrote. The whole concept behind "The Wall". And, yes, I know that the the concept occurred when Roger was pissed off enough to actually spit on a fan through a chain link fence during the "Animals" tour. "The Wall". I wasn't there. I don't know. But what I do know is this. This is the most succint lyric about alienation that has ever been written. Trying to find your Father. "Boy, don't you end up like me." Listen to the album. It all goes back to "Mother". Roger had it right. And every word he ever wrote after that consists of that song. What does it mean to be a man? "Ooo, I need a Dirty Girl." Damn straight.

Perfect Sense Part I | Reviewer: Dennis Oberheu
------ About the song Perfect Sense Part I & II performed by Roger Waters

I'M hearing "Don't make us laugh you're a smart kid time is linear runways are straight" (as in time and space being relative and reality not being the way our ego percieves it to be). Then he is equiped with a nuclear submarine and sent back to look for the garden of eden.(Which he had when he recognized the true meaning of time and space.)
