When Ringo was born on July 7, 1940 in Liverpool, his
parents, Richard Starkey and Elsie Gleave decided that
Ringo should be named after his father. But his parents’
marriage did not last and Ringo and his mother had to move

Review about Ringo Starr The Moonbeam song, "Do Harry Neilsons lyrics really matter?" | Reviewer: Stephen Miles
------ About the song The Moonbeam Song performed by Ringo Starr
The Moonbeam song continues to put me in a ecstasy unrivaled. As I listen to the words carefully they say very little that is extraordinarily moving. Even when he describes the moonlight glinting off the fence it doesn't deter my soaring mood, that there are bits of "crap" around its bottom.
While I think that harry was a brilliant wordsmith, his extraordinary compositions, especially The Moonbeam Song in my view, stand firmly on there own.
While Ringo did make a hit of this, the song was a top 10 hit back in the late 50's or early 60's, and I think you should acknowledge that. I believe that the artist may have been one of the writers, Bobby Sherman, but I can't vouch for that. In my opinion, he did it better than Ringo sang it.

------ About the song Never Without You performed by Ringo Starr

This was THE song if you were a teenager in love in the 60's. Whatever happened to the innocence that Ringo sang about???
