Regina Spektor Lyrics
Born in Moscow, CCCP, Regina came to the Bronx when she was
9 years old. She started studying classical piano at the
age of six, and loved her teacher, but had to say goodbye,
and her family had to sell the piano, right before their
immigration. She badly wanted to continue her lessons when
she got to America, and thanks to her piano teacher, Sonia
Vargas, she was able to. Sonia was a Manhattan School of
Music Professor, and her husband Samuel Marder, a NY
Philharmonic violinist. They had invited Regina's family
for a lunch and a More...

Review about Regina Spektor songs
Sad | Reviewer: Silvia
------ About the song Blue Lips performed by Regina SpektorThis song always reminds me of a family friend of mine who died of cancer. While Mrs. Krier was nearing the end (around Christmastime), my mom said I could make some of my customary paper snowflakes and put them on a backdrop of blue for her. I know the song has really not a lot to do about death at all, but this song always reminds me of her passing, and it makes me sad. It's a beautiful song, though.

------ About the song Samson performed by Regina SpektorI agree with Clara. It is DEFINITELY a biblical allusion. No song has THAT much religious references by coincidence: Samson and Delilah; "Oh I cut his hair myself one night"; "Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down. Yeah we couldn't destroy a single one." (Samson died by breaking a column to bring a building crashing down on him and his many enemies); and so forth
I heard this song for the first time today. My school's dance class had their showcase today, and one choreography used this song. They used it in a dance about cancer. It sort of works, too: he didn't eat much (a slice of wonderbread); he sleeps a lot (after the wonderbread, he goes back to bed); there isn't much hair on his head (could possibly be chemotherapy).
I like both interpretations ^_^

------ About the song Laughing With performed by Regina Spektori think she means, that some people laugh at the idea of God, like me, when they tell me the miracles he did,its like Houdini doing magic for me, not real. Or santa for kids, or the believers who think if they do the correct things their life would be better. BUT, when someone is in a really bad situacion no one laughs. not even me.
Great song! | Reviewer: Dennis
------ About the song Laughing With performed by Regina SpektorThere was a typo in my first review, so I hope this is the one used...;)
Love the song, and really dig the poem/review "Good GOD Char'lie Brown"... a double-dose of goodness, and I still don't know what Regina is saying; pro-God or anti-God or ambivalent, but it's fantastic, and I love Regina!

------ About the song Eet performed by Regina Spektori think this song is when you truly love someone and you thought you knew them perfectly but then they just in a way turn against you and you don't think that that person loves you.they were a real someone to you but you just can't feel it anymore and you try to find out why in the first place you were in love with them. then you're really depressed and don't want anyone to be with you

------ About the song Samson performed by Regina SpektorMy impression of this song is, and maybe this is just because I had a long relationship end just a month ago lol, but it's that person that, well, truly loved you first. They aren't the person that you're destined for, but they help make you what you'll become one day, and while what you had was beautiful, it was not forever. You'll always remember them, and that they loved you first.
I love this song. | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Daniel Cowman performed by Regina SpektorDaneil Cowman is a shout out to Modest Mouse's Cowboy Dan. If you don't interpret Cowman as a last name, then they essentially have the same name. In MM's song Cowboy Dan is alive, but a part of that song links thematically with this one:
He drove the desert, fired his rifle in the sky
And says, "God if I have to die you will have to die"
Regina matches this with:
On the day that Daniel Cowman stopped existing
the world should've ended right then and there
So Regina is referecing Dan/Daneil's wish that the world end along with him. Given that Dan is a stereotypical name for a cowboy, it could all be a coincidence but its a cool idea anyhow.
