Real Good Looking Boy Lyrics
Performed by The WhoReview The Song (12)
When I think back to the
first time in my childhood
When I saw that face
I thought right then,
'That's a real good looking boy'
I saw myself in the mirror
in profile
for the first time
I thought,
'Hey! That's a real good looking boy'
And I felt then
that I moved
With all those lucky fucks and angels
High in the theatre
In the sky
So I ran to my mother
I said,
'Mom - take a look at me
Have you ever seen a teen
Fly so high?'
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
She said,
'Son, well, you know,
you're an ugly boy.
You don't really look like him
In this long line
There's been some
real strange genes
You've got 'em all
You've got 'em all
With some extras thrown in'
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
Wise men say
Only fools, only fools rush in
But I - I can't help
Falling in love, in love with you
Now I'm here with you little darling
And you say, 'You're beautiful as you are'
And I've managed somehow to survive
You arrived in my life like a fragrance and
you help me find a way to laugh
Now I Know how so-called beauty lies
God gave him a face
Then he gave me something above
God gave me a grace
Man, he gave me your sweet, sweet, sweet love
You make me feel like I'm a real good looking boy
I feel I'm a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy
That's a real good looking boy

I've been a fan of The Who for a while now, and I have only recently heard this song (on one of two CDs my dad got for Christmas), and I've only heard a little about this song before I heard it. Now that I've heard it, I'm simply amazed at how beautiful it is; it's nearly brought me to tears a couple of times, which a lot of songs don't usually do. This has got to be one of my new favorites from them. Wonderfully written, Pete, and wonderfully sung, Roger.
A great song | Reviewer: TGF | 1/26/11
evertime I hear this song, I get the chills. Especially the part that starts with, "Now I'm here with you little darling". Being married twice, I can only think about my current wife. She came into my life after my divorce and turned my world around, for the better. She made me feel like a "real good looking boy" and 11 years later, she continues to do so - now she gave me a daughter. The song can actually be from both my wife and my daughter, they both make me feel like a real good looking boy.

I'm 32 years old and just getting into The Who and have to say this is simply put one of the most well written/beautiful songs I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. So many emotions stire when I listen to it and I am blessed to now have this song in my life. Eternal Thanks to The Who for this and many other gems.

Excuse me for my english but i'm a 44 years old french man lost in deep country. I just want to say that this song makes almost me weep every time I listen it...this is a great great song from Pete, perhap's the most personnal, and the way Roger sing it is perfect. Long live to Pete and Roger, thank's a lot Zac and others who came to make survive the band like this.

these guys still do what they've been doing for 40 years as well as ever. this is one of their true masterpieces. mr. townshend, man, youve still got it and no one's ever gonna take that from you. daltrey, keep roaring and weaving that magic.
keith & john: rip. this song strangely makes me think about them. it almost makes me wanna cry. amazing and beautiful. rock on.
Something Above | Reviewer: Bob | 4/28/09
what a powerful, beautifully arranged work of musical art. Classically The Who from the first ringing guitar chord after the intro so typical of Pete, to the fast tempo change at 3:23. As Roger is singing "I can't help falling in love with you" I can almost hear the ghost of Roy Orbison in his voice. Inspiring and uplifting and an instant classic. The Who have given us something above!

Good GOD almighty I thank you for allowing a lost soul such as i and so many others were until we found the WHO. GOD bless you Mr. Townsend and Mr. Daltry! I was so lucky to have seen the WHO back at Madison Square Garden with Keith & John, GOD rest their souls. This world we live in is a far better place thanks to the WHO. WHO needs to be real good looking when you've got The WHO!!!

I'd just like to say thanks to Pete and Roger for continuing to do what you do so well. Pete, if Mozart was alive today you'd probably look at him and say "Who the fuck does he think he is." You are every bit as talented as he ever was. Roger, if Elvis was alive today he'd probably write a song about you. To Zak Starkey, you made me believe Keith was hitting those skins himself. To Greg Lake, you brought your own style to this, that's what John would have done. To John Bundrick and Simon Townsend you were equally amazing. Thanks guys. I needed this more than you could ever imagine. If anyone out there has not heard this yet? Get it, share it, imerse yourself in it.
The Who Still Rock | Reviewer: Todd | 4/9/08
I'm so glad that Pete & Roger decided to bring back The Who into the modern world. This is such a great song. Pete wrote it about Roger's childhood dreams of being elvis presley. Now without Keith Moon & John Enwistle (RIP) its Pete & Roger against the world.
elvis | Reviewer: chris | 11/29/07
when they say you dont really look like him there talking about elvis. Daltry was talking about that during the concert and they had pics of Elvis on the screens
Slight Correction | Reviewer: Tullbooth | 4/28/07
In the "Son, you know you're an ugly boy" verse, the last line is "You don't really look like HIM".
10/10 again 4 the who | Reviewer: keith skinner | 7/7/06
this is a mature who showing what agreat institution they are.40 years+ down the line and mr townshend still produces classics like this to be be enshrined by mr daltrey's aging but still spectacular voice,
