Hold on slow down
Again from the top now and tell me everything.
I know I`ve been gone for
What seems like forever
But I`m here now waiting
To convince you that I`m not
A ghost or a stranger
But closer than you think
She said just go on to what you
Pretend is your life but
Please don`t die on me
Wings won`t take me
Heights don`t phase me
So take a step
But don`t look down, take a step
Now I`m standing on the rooftop ready to fall (ready to fall)
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
Perpetual motion the image wont focus
A blur is all that's seen
But here in this moment like the eye of the storm
It all came clear to me
I found a shoulder to lean on
An infallible reason to live all by itself
I took one last look from the heights that I once loved
And then I ran like hell
Wings won't take me
Heights don't phase me
So take a step
But don't look down take a step
Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall (ready to fall)
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I count the times that Ive been sorry (I know I know)
Now my compassion slowly drowns (I know I know)
If there's a time these walls could guard you (I know I know)
Then let that time be right now
Now I'm standing on a rooftop
Now I'm standing on a rooftop ready to fall (ready to fall)
I'm standing on a rooftop ready to fall
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on a rooftop ready to fall
Now I'm standing on a rooftop(ready to fall)
Now I'm standing on a rooftop(ready to fall)
Now I'm standing on a rooftop(ready to fall)
Now I'm standing on a rooftop ready to fall

Review about Ready To Fall Meanings | Reviewer: Sarah | 11/13/09
Every Song has a meaning. But every one has there own interpritation of lyrics. Like I could think that this song is just about people standing on rootops screaming and waiting to fall. well thats not what I really think. So no one is to be exactly the meaning of this. I look at lyrics completly diffrent from everyone and I look at them in a way they have to do with my life. This band is awesome i love them.
potential meaning | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/10/09
this song seems to be talking about how everything we think to be so great growing up in life we realize as we grow older that it could majoritively be insignificant. this song is amazing and so is a lot of their songs and has a lot of good meanings.
I think this song has to do with chasing a goal and getting it - maybe unexpectadly - and then it being worth nothing.
For example, you work hard while at school, putting off social gatherings. You finally finish and get an excellent. But then you realise you have no one to share it with and infact this goal was really stupid and now you're 'ready to fall.'
my fellow asians take note. we koreans must especially take note.

I think that this world really needs that some bands ( as Rise Against) remember all of us the importance of many worrying matters that we all should solve together. I don't believe the music this band makes isn't good but I think that without their fighting lyrics, it won't be the same.
worldly issues | Reviewer: inJCwepray | 9/2/09
this song was designed to look at the only world we have. when we're kids, the world is an incredible place with lots of wonder and full of potential discovery. but now we're older, we look, standing upon that same hilltop, and realize how trashed and destroyed it really is. the truth hits us so hard and we run. the cane from which we leaned against is knocked over and we're free falling. if you watch the music video, it really all does come to place. and at the end he explicitly says "we have one world, one chance"
Well This song has several view-points when it comes to the meaning(obviously) but to be honset i dont think any of them matter and the song's message pionts that out. There will be times (for most of you) when ur its just not ur day and ur "ready to fall" or ur under great depression OR u just would like to hear this song. but thats what They made this song for right?
I think you all get the picture but hey, this is all comming from a 14 year old so what do i know?
It was about some one being gone for so long, they are doing something dangerous with their life. Maybe a military service member or something, and when they come back trying to jump back into a relation ship this whole thing happens. Or maybe he just go out of basic and is going to his first assignment.
"I know I`ve been gone for
What seems like forever
But I`m here now waiting
To convince you that I`m not
A ghost or a stranger
But closer than you think
She said just go on to what you
Pretend is your life but
Please don`t die on me"
i believe that almost every song has a methaphoric meaning. when there is no direct concrete message in the song it leaves you to apply the lyrics of the song to several examples in our lives weather it be about humanity destroying the planet and themselfs slowly or about someone feeling like falling off a roof, all you have to do is look at the title and think, "Ready To Fall" well we are all ready to fall in many different ways in our lifes and throughout the course of our lives there will be several occassions where you have that same "ready to fall" feeling and when that happens you can give this song another listen and enjoy it again and again, which for me thats what makes it a great song.

To put 100% blame on Americans is pure ignorance. Of course a large percentage of Americans are fat, and some are greedy, but that: A) doesn't mean we all are; and B) doesn't mean that other countries don't have the same problems.
Grow up, and start thinking for yourself. Don't just find the nearest emotionally convincing argument and cling to it. Actually look from both sides before you make a judgement call on anything.
While I agree that animal abuse is wrong, these are extreme cases, and are NOT an accurate representation of the world. I DO believe that we need to start being pro-active about our planet, but we need to start EDUCATING people, rather than just making them mindless drones.
This is an awesome song and first time I saw the video today. Extremely moving and sad, but they are trying to get the message out there about what is happening to these poor, innocent animals that happens behind closed doors. It's a reality in this cruel world we live in and bluntly-overproduction-due to the fact Americans are so obese and eat too damn much. Who has to pay the price for gluttony- the innocent.
