"We've got to regain knowledge again, and we've got to
regain an understanding again, of who we are. Not just
those chosen to fuel systems, but individuals who have the
power to criticize and analyze, and attack injustice when
it becomes prevalent and apparent in front of our faces
like it is in ours right now. We've been all put to sleep.
Put to sleep to a system. A system that continues to
perpetrate ignorance amongst our spirits and amongst our
minds. One that wants you not to act. A system that would
rather see all of you at that bar drinking beer filling
your minds being put to sleep with beer or with drugs,
rather than acting against it and fighting a system which
has been perpetrating imperialist lies and other fucking
bullshit for five hundred years.

------ About the song NO SHELTER performed by Rage Against The Machine

Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing expecting different results. Was Obama's message really all that different than all the other promises? Important to remember though, it's not just our government. It's a tag team combo of mega-corporations combined with big government. Via the true medium of representation, lobbyist. You mean nothing more to these elected officials, than your blood as the grease for the cogs of the machine. You don't line their pockets with money. You don't buy them houses, cars and jets. You are little more than a dog.
Rage Against the Machine was trying to get people to see and understand the encroaching blight that had already swallowed the low income and was soon coming for everyone not apart of the ruling class in the American caste system.

------ About the song Calm Like a Bomb performed by Rage Against The Machine

Actually, for all of you people who say that they left the band because of political beliefs, that's now why. They were just falling apart for typical band reasons. Not being able to work together, issues with stuff, I know the bassist rebelling at that one award show made the singer pissed. Stuff that breaks up normal bands basically. Tom Morello talked about how broken the song writing process was in an interview.
But being to political, the reason why I know that's not why is because Tom Morello is just as bad as Zach when it comes to politics. He said, and I quote "I was hoping for Audioslave to be even more political based then Rage Against the Machine." I don't know about the other two members of the band, but no matter what band Tom or Zach is involved in, there will obviously be politics.

------ About the song Testify performed by Rage Against The Machine

First off, I find it amazing that he quoted one of my favourite authors here. ("Who controls the past..." being from 1984 by George Orwell) He also had a reference to Dante's Inferno in "Roll Right" ("Send them to the seventh level!"), which I appreciated.

While he's much more of an extreme leftist than I am (I'm only moderately left, if not completely indifferent to politics), I admire that he is so devoted to what he believes in. I wish I had that kind of tenacity to stand up amidst calls from opposition to step down. He truly believes in the possibility of peace with the right approach.

Yo the truth, i just want to say that you clearly don't know what u are talking about dude! This i a nice song, that is why i visited this page, but don't you dare insult linkin park like that dude. Your suport of a band like Rage of the machine amuses me man. So why don't you go and fuck a duck instead of insulting bands that you don't know anything of. I am a saffa and the americans bitching about their country is amusing me as well

------ About the song Testify performed by Rage Against The Machine

I only heard of this song 2 days ago, for the first time, when I was at a party playing Rock Band. It pretty well caught me attention.=)
Btw, Mr. B rocks this song! Just in case anyone wanted to know. :P

------ About the song Sleep Now in the Fire performed by Rage Against The Machine

If you listen to Rage's entire catalog, it becomes clear that they are not only angry at government - they are also angry at people. We let all the "bad" stuff in the world happen without batting an eyelash. What people don't realize is that all the institutions and power structures they rail against are merely tools which we can put to whatever end we choose. We let power get corrupted. It's time to "Wake Up" and, only then, can we "Take the Power Back"

------ About the song Sleep Now in the Fire performed by Rage Against The Machine

damn this song is really deep!! corporate greed, reffering to how the u.s does things in the name of god, how protesting doesnt bother the government as long as they dont achieve anything by it,and those commited to their cause are political prisoners or silenced by death and that some poeple dont mind what the goverment is doing because they profit from it, and i believe "sleep now in the fire" refers to how the public is being harmed but they arent even aware of it

------ About the song Killing In The Name performed by Rage Against The Machine

i was born and raised in the USA. and i will say flat out. the people here have no clue what is going on outside the states. I was in the navy for 12 years and went to alot of places you cant even find on the map. and now im in the Army. other then the people that have been deployed or moved here. have any clue what the rest of the world is like. we are fat lazy and spoild. but that is are birth right fought and paid for with life. there is no place out there that can say they didnt do all the things we have done and some still do. so bash us all you want... but you know in your heart you would love to be us.
this song is everything we are. spoiled, mad, self centered and ready to fight.

------ About the song Bulls On Parade performed by Rage Against The Machine

To whoeer said it is just rally round the family, have you heard the song, you can hear something before rally, and im pretty sur its they. But, I LOVE THIS SONG, Zack De Rocha rocks, Tom Morello kicks ass, and their drummer, i dont know his name, but im learning the drums to this now, and hes fricking pro! Lots of cymbal work. Sore hands =P

    Generalizations | Reviewer: regina
------ About the song Killing In The Name performed by Rage Against The Machine

To previous commenter: Please do not make generalizations about Americans. To say that 'iv been in usa a couple of times and i know how the ppl r and they rly dont know much about outside usa' is a massive generalization and you are making unnecessary and ridiculous assumptions. I am proud of my country for what it has done for me. No, I do not support many things my government does, but I also am not uneducated or stupid, as you are suggesting everyone in the USA is. The United States is a very diverse nation; do not make unjust assumptions. The unwise decisions of the government are exactly what this song is against, so clearly some Americans are not as oblivious as you think.

------ About the song Sleep Now in the Fire performed by Rage Against The Machine

zack made many points on standing up for your rights and not tolorating violence and injustice, but what if we didn't stand up, but don't lay down and roll over either...zack knows what he is talking about but be reasonable people

------ About the song Wake Up performed by Rage Against The Machine

this as what our National hero Dr. Jose Rizal does, no need to have a bloody revolution against the Spanish Gov't...but by writing books and novels he wake up the entire Philippine Nation to stand for our rights in order free from discrimination... ZACK idol!

To the reviewer below... | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Sleep Now in the Fire performed by Rage Against The Machine

Rage Against The Machine suggested a solution, and not only once. They cry it out at the top of their lungs, over and over again, hoping someone will just listen. They are telling us to stand up. Stand up for who we are, stand up for our rights, our freedom, stand up against injustice, hatred, violence, abuse, war. They invite us to take a stand against all that has made this world so unjust, to take a stand against ignorance and complacency and to, for once, do something about it.

------ About the song Sleep Now in the Fire performed by Rage Against The Machine

This is an awsome song. I love listening to it and thinking about the lyrics. A lot of their songs have the same theme. The only problem I have with it is that they enver suggest a solution. It's always this, this and this are wrong. They either think they can do a better job governing the United States or that there is no hope for humanity in general which seems like a depressing way to look at the world. I agree that there are a lot of things wrong with the American government but they're not going to be able to change it so they might aswell try to find some good in it instead of focusing on everything that's wrong. Either way these guys did their homework and they know what they're talking about.

------ About the song Killing In The Name performed by Rage Against The Machine

This song is very entertained. I have ever heard it from playing "GTA Sanandreas". This song have featured in this video game too. I really really like the final part. She raged so angrily
"Fuck You!! I won't do what you tell me!!!" >W<

It seems like she also was very satisfied that she blamed that sentence. haha! lol

------ About the song Bulls On Parade performed by Rage Against The Machine

This is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. One point of clarification, is it really, "rally round tha' family"
I always thought it said, "Radley (some guy) had no family, only a pocket full of shells (as in he was going to go on a killing spree)."

------ About the song People Of The Sun performed by Rage Against The Machine

Man first check your spellin please. The problem with any movement occurs often when the people supporting it seem retarded. If you're a non-native english speaker then i can't complain.

Second; yeah you're right. This track makes the blood boil and could also make you jump work to go graffiti obama's car. A friend of mine, back in the day was a dj. Zach appeared from nowhere during a MC battle and shredded everyone. Definitely a rare breed ;p

------ About the song People Of The Sun performed by Rage Against The Machine

This is rage against the machines clearest statement. The first song on the follow up debut that just shreds your face off. A mix done so well that an ecleptic blend of hip hoppers and hard rockers can both bounce there necks to.

Its also lyrically strong with the astec references compared to modern day government. It sounds so primative but its a powerful reminder of how very real it is. I've had the pleasure of hearing this one live straight from zachs mouth. It really is an amazingly great song. (Not to mention it gets followed up by a lil' "come wit it now!")

------ About the song Killing In The Name performed by Rage Against The Machine

I honestly cannot believe you would even mention Eminem, Linkin Park "etc." in the same sentence as RATM, let alone compare them. For one thing, a significant amount of what Eminem stands for is exactly what RATM is against, just because they both say fuck you to the American government doesn't mean they're saying it for the same reason... I could go on for days, but to save your boredom, look at "Graciez thoughts! | Reviewer: Grace | 12/28/07".... clearly RATM have superior music to boot bahaha!!!!!!!!!!
