Radio Ga Ga Lyrics
Performed by QueenReview The Song (15)
Words and music by Roger Taylor
(Radio)
I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio
(Radio)
You gave them all those old time stars
Through wars of worlds -- invaded by Mars
You made 'em laugh -- you made 'em cry
You made us feel like we could fly
So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
(Radio)
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new?
Radio, someone still loves you!
We watch the shows -- we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years
Let's hope you never leave old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So stick around cos we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
(Radio)
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio GaGa
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio GaGa
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio ga ga
Radio what's new?
Someone still loves you!
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
(Radio)

If any song in the world could define your childhood, what song would that be?
For me, this is that song. I heard this for the first time while growing up in Samoa the 80's and 90's. Yes, of all places to hear this song, I heard it in Samoa!? Who would've guessed?
I have been blessed to have listened and to have grown up listening to music of this nature. In my opinion, this is a true classic in every sense of the word.

Parody of lady gaga | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/4/11
it's exactly that: all we hear is radio GAGA radio Blah Blah, I'm so tired of all this GAGA's commercial rubbish, did you hear Judas? Jesus! This woman is white trash, no wonder 13 mil people unfriended her, she had her paparazzi which was OK and now she started all this born this way etc like recorded in somebody's bedroom by 1st grader, no any value to it. Note to all A&Rs: u idiots take next time real musicians to play, not waxed masquerade.
She Did Get Her Name from This Song! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/23/11
I watched Lady Ga Ga on a primetime TV interview just a month ago and she clearly stated that- she got her name from Queen (Radio Ga Ga) Might have been Diane sawyer or Barbara Walters.
No matter what, thats what she said. If anyone can provide additional interviews in print where she goes into any further detail (GREAT) It would be better if it's her saying it not someone else.
Hope this helps
Freddie Mercury is the best Male Vocalist of all time! (just wanted to pay tribute)Because of his vocal range, musicality, writing, his wide range of genres and ability to sound better live then in studio!!!!! Simply amazing
Re: The irony of lady gaga | Reviewer: laxer33 | 4/21/11
This song is about how music has become more about the music videos and the attractiveness of the artists, etc. instead of the quality and meaning of the music.
I think what Lady Gaga was trying to do by somewhat naming herself after Radio Ga Ga, if that's even how she got her name, was to have a sense of meaning to her music. That her songs are going back to when music meant something without a fancy music video.

lol, dude, calm down. so he got a fact wrong, so what? I think it's still sort of safe to say that her stage name originated from this song, and that's probably what he was getting at.
Brilliant song as well, one of those 'Once in a generation' type songs IMHO

If you are going to be critical and act as if you know something you should make sure you have your facts straight. Otherwise you may spread false info(thats about the worst) and also make yourself look like a BOOB(idiot) or just a total dick.
Lady Gaga did not take her name from this song. This is an important point now so pay attention. Her manager called her "gaga" because well he thought it was cool but more importantly the reason he took something from the QUEEN library of works is because he felt that there were many similarities as far as vocal strength, style, talent, capabilities, etc. between her and Freddy Mercury. With no actual tie to the song itself. The name was well received and it stuck. OK buck-o got it? Good. Who's next? NEXT!
The irony of lady gaga | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/12/10
Its very ironic that lady gaga took her name from this song seeing how this song is criticizing musicians like her and gaga came from something roger's baby said and was meant to show how the music on the radio had lost meaning

What can I say about " Radio Ga Ga "? this song really ROCKS!!!!. I hadn't heard a song before that shows the values of radio like this. This song made me think about radio. Whenever I hear it, I can't get it out of my head for a long time. Thanks Queen for composing such a great song. I'll always love them…

An Amazing Live Sensation!!!!! | Reviewer: Mark | 3/11/08
This song is great when you hear it from when they played it at Live Aid in 1985, because that was their moment in the sun, and this song catapulted them to the top, thanks to the genius in Freddie Mercury. This song gives me chills every time I hear it, because of his honesty towards the crowd when he plays the song. He gets them into everything that Queen does, and this song is the primary example of that. "All we hear is Radio Ga-Ga." Not when Freddie performs it, we don't. Truly amazing!!!!!
Best of Both Worlds | Reviewer: Invader Phlegm | 2/18/08
Queen is one of the truly rare musical acts who can produce both serious rock and pop and epitomize both. Radio Ga Ga is without a doubt one of my favorite tracks ever - made even more so by the truth of the lyrics, which seem to become all the truer with the passage of time.

Ok... this is not fair...
Don't ruin one of the greatest songs of all time... If you want to write a parody, publish it in another place... the whole lyrics are wrong...
Queen -- Legend | Reviewer: Pagean | 2/23/07
Queen is quite possibly one of the greatest groups of musicians to have ever walked the planet. Their music revolutionized so much. Radio Ga Ga is one of my favorite pieces that they ever wrote. Their music sounds like nothing else that has been or ever will be created. It's called "true talent and musical genius," something the modern popular music business is lacking.
