First off, let's quit the Jack Johnson bashing. He's a great songwriter with a distinctive style, groove, and voice. Plus, it's not like he's ripping off Buffet, right before he starts playing he tells EVERYBODY that it's a Jimmy Buffet cover. He plays this song to pay tribute to Buffet. Additionally, the only thing wrong with these lyrics is the inclusion of the last two verses. The Jack Johnson version has those omitted, so that's the only change. Look, people cover other peoples songs. It's a form of flattery, not of hostility. That you'd be ignorant enough to presume that Jack Johnson could have written this masterpiece is bad enough, but ya didn't even have the lyrics right until I gave them the corrections. Jack Johnson himself does this song because it's a great tune, and as tribute to Jimmy Buffett... so honor the both of them and get it right. As to getting over it, and songs being "in the wind"... that's an interesting perspective that you really need to get over. GOOD songs are relatively few, great songs rare... and singing surfers with a guitar a dime a dozen. :P (Sorry, Jack, but you know what I mean.) I'm NOT a Parrothead, (though I am a songwriter) and it pissed me off too. If you're gonna publish the guy's stuff, at least get it right...
