Pieces of April Lyrics
Artist(Band):Three Dog Night
Review The Song (17)Print the Lyrics
(D. Loggins)
from the album The Best of Three Dog Night

April gave us springtime and the promise of the flowers
And the feeling that we both shared and the love that we called ours
We knew no time for sadness, that's a road we each had crossed
We were living a time meant for us, and even when it would rain
we would laugh it off.

I've got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April, it's a morning in May

We stood on the crest of summer, beneath an oak that blossomed green
Feeling as I did in April, not really knowing what it means
But it must be then that you stand beside me now to make me feel this way
Just as I did in April, but it's a morning in May.

I've got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April, but it's a morning in May

I've got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April, but it's a morning in May

Review about Pieces of April

This Special Day | Reviewer: Mel | 7/7/09

Here I sit, just finished watching the memorial services for Michael Jackson, and I started to reminisce all the great songs from my past. Pieces of April surfaces to the top. It is a song that holds a special meaning to me. Glad to have known it.

Aloha.

so true | Reviewer: Bob | 6/10/09

I've got pieces of April, I keep'em in a memory bouquet...I've got pieces of April, but it's a morning in May..
I don't think there's ever been any lyrics with more feeling, emotion, and heartbreak than that..

Thank you Dave, for a beautiful song | Reviewer: Marla | 5/5/09

This song was my senior year prom theme. It was so appropiate at that time, and to this day, 35 years later, it still gives me goose bumps. This is the kind of song that transcends generations, the new generation listening to it now are our grandchildren. Thanks to those that were smart enough to see this song was one in a million, and thank 3DN for recording it!

we all move on with time | Reviewer: jerry | 4/30/09

yes, springtime is for love. but what happens? the love slips and we move on (to May). ah, the stream of life............of living.........of love. It's all part of the seasonal change.
Now, back to searching for DB Cooper.

Among the best | Reviewer: Ken | 4/30/09

Pieces of April is one of those songs that the Baby Boomers will never forget. When hearing it today, it is a song that evokes the best memories. When we first heard it, it was a song of love and hope that measured our youth. 3DN did an awesome job with this tune...one of the best of our era!

The scent of yesterday and what could have been | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/27/08

This is what this song represents for me. It evokes memories of my youth and all the possibilities that lay before me at that young age. I can see myself lying on the grass surrounded by flowers thinking "This is the best time of my life!" It makes me cry, I now remember what I could have done but didnt, and what I did do, but shouldn't have, and it makes me cry everytime I listen to it. Thank you 3DN and Loggins for the best song of my life.

Had April and rediscovered May | Reviewer: Jim | 1/31/08

Like Dave Loggins, I had the love of my life and lost her--for over twenty years. But, we found each other again. I had always liked "Pieces of April," but now it has special meaning. We have been blessed to have an April that is lived in our May--and then some!

A Beautiful Time of Life | Reviewer: Dave Loggins | 1/19/08

I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts on "Pieces." I wrote it at a very special time of my life. Special, because I met the "love of my life" and had recently lost her. By chance, we were together for three consecutive Aprils and then she left me for good. Today, I don't know where she is or how her life turned out. May is symbolic of the present, April was, and still remains a sweet yesterday. I have never really gotten over "April" and the "pieces" still remain. Those sweet Aprils... It's my favorite song, too.

Beautiful, beautiful song | Reviewer: Delanie | 1/15/08

I keep this song "in a memory bouquet" - it's an unusual song because it's wistful despite the reality that the lovers are still together - it's for everyone who has ever fallen in love and is looking forward to the future with their love.

They still Got it! | Reviewer: paula | 8/7/07

"Pieces of April" has very special meaning to me, as I have a daughter named April who by the way was born in May. It is my song for her! The Three Dog Night are by far my favorite band. I saw them live twice. Once in Kleinhan's Music Hall in Buffalo NY in the early 70's and just on Saturday August 4th,2007, in Gateway Park, North Tonawanda, NY. Let me tell you they still got and MORE!!! Fabulous! It was painful when they left the stage for the final time!!! I hope they come back soon!
