------ About the album Album 1700 performed by Peter, Paul & Mary

Album 1700 by Peter, Paul and Mary was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Folk Performance category in 1967

1700 is a lost jewel of an album. It contains the some of best songs they ever sang. Full of songs that made you think, weep, and learn while listening to unique music and one of a kind lyrics: it also has some silly and fun songs too. Worthy of 1967, the times were unique in American history and American Music.
Deadly serious and fun by turns, the 1960s were a turning point in American sense and sensibilities. Death began to stalk the young men as they were sent to Viet Nam in increasing numbers. Civil Rights took hold at last, after 100 years black finally broke through to full recognition as people in the South. All through the nation many people of the generation who fought in WWII had to face what they should have faced directly after seeing what race hatred had done in Europe and Asia. Their children fought and died in the USA to make their parents aware at last of what America had to become, no more lip service but actual laws and living cultural changes to make America a land of the Free and Home of the Brave.

The great songs from this album include: the slow tick tock backing the words of the Great Mandala, which is the background to the story of a man who tried to teach peace and died for it; the soaring haunting voices describing the rooms of the House Song; and the slow elegy for Weep For Jamie; all these make for great listening.

It also includes songs which are fun and silly such as "I Dig Rock and Roll Music", and 'I'm in Love with a Big Blue Frog". Even these songs have a subtle iconoclastic point of view.

It also contains the most popular of Peter, Paul and Mary's songs, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" written by John Denver.

------ About the album PP M& (LifeLines) performed by Peter, Paul & Mary

My first exposure to this great album was on NPR when they featured "Home Is Where The Heart Is". It was also a PBS special featuring many of the classic folk artists that influenced Peter Paul and Mary. I love this Album and it has become one of my favorites. "For the Love of it All" is one of the best tracks, featuring Emmylou Harris. Written by Paul Stookey, it encapulates his faith very eloquently and without a preachy tone. Richie Havens guests, as well as Judy Collins, and Carly Simon (and her sister Lucy) Listen to this album; without a doubt it plainly demonstrates why Peter Paul and Mary would annually sell out two concerts at the "Wolftrap" near Washington DC. I saw them there twice, luckily. Both times the audience was on their feet at the BEGINNING of the concert. I stand in my heart each time I hear this album. Enjoy the beauty of the music, the simple arrangements, the heartfelt vocals. There isn't muc better than what you will hear on "Lifelines."

A classic 'must have' for new parents | Reviewer: Andrew Ristvey
------ About the album Peter, Paul and Mommy performed by Peter, Paul & Mary

For any parents with young children, this is a classic must have. I grew up with these songs which gave me a great appreciation for music. Now that I am a parent, I play these tunes for my 1 year old daughter. They are easy to learn and sing along with. Peter, Paul and Mary's stunning harmonies add to such great songs you'll want to play these folk tunes over and over again.
