Just a note though, there is an error in these lyrics. The line "its a travesty" is incorrect. The line is "Is it Dropsy?". Dropsy is a common goldfish disease which causes the fishes to bloat up to the point where their scales stick out. Not only am I a huge Rob Crow fan, but I also worked in an aquarium store for 5 years. Odysseus leaves for the trojan war on a "galleon" and penelope waits for him for twenty years. She has many courtships and promises to marry one of them once she finishes knitting a funeral shroud or something like that. She knits every day and every day she un-does the work she did that day so that she can keep waiting for Odysseus. He wants to get back to her, "treading water with his oars", but he can't. Odysseus built their home around a tree so that water would leak in the hole in the roof..."take you to the forest, let you feel the raindrops...". Odysseus doesn't want to come back and find his wife dead or remarried.
