Incubus Pardon Me Lyrics

Last updated: 09/25/2013 01:50:48 PM

Pardon me while I burst...

A decade ago,
I never thought I would be,
at twenty-three, on the verge of
spontaneous combustion. -Woe-is-me.-
But I guess that it comes
with the territory,
An ominous landscape of
never-ending calamity.
I need you to hear,
I need you to see
that I have had all I can take and
exploding seems like a definite possibility
to me.

So pardon me while I burst
into flames.
I've had enough of the world
and its people's mindless games.
So pardon me while I burn
and rise above the flame.
Pardon me, pardon me...
I'll never be the same!

Not two days ago,
I was having a look
in a book
and I saw a picture of a guy
fried up above his knee.
I said, "I can relate,"
cause lately I've been thinking of combustication
as a welcome vacation from
the burdens of
the planet Earth.
like gravity, hypocrisy,
and the perils of being in 3D
but thinking so much differently.

Pardon me while I burst
into flames.
I've had enough of the world
and its people's mindless games.
So pardon me while I burn
and rise above the flame.
Pardon me, pardon me...
I'll never be the same!

Never be the same, yeah...
Pardon me, while I burst into flames...
Pardon me, pardon me, pardon me.

So pardon me while I burst
into flames.
I've had enough of the world
and its people's mindless games.
So pardon me while I burn
and rise above the flame.
Pardon me, pardon me...
I'll never be the same!

Never be the same, yeahh!!

Differently | Reviewer: Wotang | 1/16/12

These lyrics I think point to something deeper, intended or not. It's about contemplative prayer-- described as the deep consuming fire of Gods love experienced by those pursuing Him in the quietude of the interior. This union is a fire, the fire, that sets first the individual, next the world, ablaze with the undying and transforming Spirit of God. The world, marked by its 'people's mindless games', is "a vampire" (as the Smashing Pumpkins put it)-- for which the only answer is a life totally fulfilled and radically transformed by the gift of self to Jesus' Gospel and the 'combustication' of the fire within! As another writer put it, "why not be totally changed into fire!" ... What a great song...

Suicide | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/15/12

This song alludes to the monk who set himself on fire to prove a point as well as this song is proving a point. It relates to burning himself as a form of suicide to escape the ridiculous aspects of human life

You all suck! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/22/11

To all you people who think you know what this song is about. It's about people like me. As in people who are crazy. One's like myself with intermittent explosive disorder. Don't know what that is? Well... It's where people like me have these crazy thoughts. Bottle all emotions. And. Well... Pardon me!

what this song means | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/29/11

Come on guys this song is simply about spontaneous combustion, and that is according to the person who wrote it, Brandon Boyd. He just wanted to tell that in his opinion spontaneous combustion can happen. It's just that simple. On the other hand, Certain Shade of Green is about waiting for the traffic light to turn green. This shows that you can make wonderful songs from simple ideas or thins.

The Lyrics | Reviewer: Dragon | 4/27/11

I was lisening to this song on the radio, rocking my head back and forth, and decided that I liked the song. When I learned the lyrics I thought "I can relate." I don't think I'd like to combust honestly ('cause it would hurt) but I don't think I could've explained my emotions any better. So pardon me while I burst into flame.

Inpiration | Reviewer: Garry | 12/23/10

I'm 15 years old, I've resently started a Band by the name of Dawn Till Dust, thats not important, what is important is that i was only able to completly my goals for the making of this band because of the inpiration i got from Incubus there songs are Awesome. and i just hope that i can try and become some what like them.

Not sad | Reviewer: David | 10/2/10

I was surprised as every review that I read said that overall, this song was sad. I think you're missing out on a big part of the message if "what a sad song" is all you think when you read the lyrics. Yes, the speaker's sick of the world and all of the pointless things that people do. But he's releasing that and becoming something greater because of it. Burn gasoline and it becomes carbon dioxide and--the important part--pure water. This song isn't about depression; it's about transcendence. Incubus really is a great band; their lyrical talent sets them apart from so many other popular bands.

Him (bestfriend) | Reviewer: drkcrmsn | 9/27/10

love.peace.unity | Reviewer: Dennis Quiambao | 9/14/10

3 words for this song. GREAT GREAT GREAT! Every time I heard this I felt sad because all the words in this sons is very sentimental. Not only Brandon who looks better to their band but also the whole band INCUBUS. AWESOME! peace on earth, love each other, unity to everyone what ever happens. We are the sound of the new age! \m/

Rise above the flame | Reviewer: Brandon | 7/7/10

I beleive "Pardon me while I burn, and rise above the flame" is the most important part of this song. Tiresome of planet earth and its people's mindless games, he bursts into flames (cannot take it anymore) and is pushed to his melting point. In letting his emotions out, he rises above them and is then able to go beyond his feelings of disturbance. This song is about transcending the mad world in which humans create for themselves.

Amazed | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/19/10

I started listening to Incubus a whilel back but never really got into them until reasently. I beleive they are, truly, an amazing band. The songs fit my emotions (or time in my life) very well. I didn't quite undertand this song at first so I looked up the lyric. The song is really sad but; true. They are truy EPIC!!!!!

Incubus. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/16/10

This song is awesome. You don't have to agree with their views.. No one does. They're a good band. What they believe in is their business. You can't go around putting their music down when you have no idea what the real reason behind the song is. I'd say everyone should listen to them. They're amazing. They're different. I've been listening to Incubus for a long time now. Oh, and Tool does have good music too. But when it comes to Incubus, they seem way more real.

Ancient Wisdom | Reviewer: jeremiah johnson | 2/16/10

The ancient wisdom is always woven well by brandan boyd, the song however is very sad.. as long as the intention by the artist is to create a new perspective then thats moving, but sometimes in the past I have listen to this song and felt very down.. Im not sure whether its the key of the song? minor? It has however helped me face many other things like playing victim to the world around me, by feeling the pain inside me.. if anything exploded inside me it was my own self pitty.. the world we see outside of us is that what we feel inside us.. so these days I tune into the witt and humour of the writer.. peace from Australia.. end the war on ourselves!!
Love yourself and everyone else will seem much nicer.. :]

Incubus still very inspiring | Reviewer: adrian | 11/13/09

I never say that incubus is my favorite band since I learned to love music.I learned to understand the lyrics not just by the tone and rhythm itself but how lyrics really inspired me.
There are lot of artists there and I really appreciate there songs and compositions. This band really influenced me since they hit my weaknesses that I'd mostly incountered in my life now..
There style is unique, there moves and posts are not that common. The're interesting.
Most of there songs are great specially this one.
I loved to hear this song evry time I lost hope and it encourage me learn to love music more.
