Out in the Country Lyrics - Three Dog Night

Review The Song (6)

(written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols)

- peaked at # 15 in 1970

Whenever I need to leave it all behind
Or feel the need to get away-ay-ay
I find a quiet place, far from the human race
Out in the country

Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time
Out where the rivers like to run
I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin'

Whenever I feel them closing in on me
Or need a bit of room to move
When life becomes too fast, I find relief at last
Out in the country

Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night-time

A wonderful group with a timeless sound. I remember listening to their music back in 1969. If I could practice with them and they like my singing they might add me to the group and change the name to four dog night. What a great opportunity that would be......

One of the best groups of all time. Went to one of their concerts here in Oklahoma and after ,i think they said 41 years ,they are still just as good, with most of the original members. The 70's were a great time so proud i was a part of it wished i was back in them forever. these men are ledgends along with alot of 70's groups.Their music will play forever.

Memories of a great band ! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/21/09

One of my all-time favorite groups...and yes, I am an oldie from the sixties/seventies era. At one time, I had all of the TDN albums, even though I could hardly afford putting food on the table. They were...in my opinion, one of the best groups of "rock and roll" history. But of all the songs they performed, this was one of my favorites...if not my favorite ! I was checking out some old CD's of mine and ran across a TDN CD...which did not have this song on it. But I immediately thought of this song, got on the internet...typed it in...and listened and watched the video "Out In The Country". It took me back to a very special time in my life. I can't thank those guys enough for putting down such wonderful sounds those of us who who there can appreciate, be proud of, and cherish as long as music endures. Thanks for letting me vent !

The message for all of us is timeless- keeping this world as intact as possible for our future generations, so that they can enjoy the peace that nature has to offer in this crazy world

Takes me back to the North Georgia/North Carolina Mountains.

In my opinion, they were the most underrated band of the late sixties and early seventies. Its really a shame that theyre not in the RNR HOF.
