Opeth Lyrics

Founded in 1990 in Sweden by vocalist and guitarist Mikael
Akerfeldt, Opeth specialized in fusing progressive-rock,
folk music, and heavy-metal.
Orchid (Candlelight, 1995) cast Akerfeldt's death-metal
growling and Peter Lindgren's epically distorted guitar in
roles (mid-tempo interludes, acoustic melodies, long and
tortured songs) that were not traditionally associated to
heavy metal, despite sounding like heavy metal.

Morningrise (Candlelight, 1996), their masterpiece, refined
that manner, particularly in the monumental suite Black More...

Review about Opeth songs
Opeth at their best | Reviewer: RedDevil
------ About the song Bleak performed by Opeth

This is my favourite song song from all of Opeth's albums...The song has a ferocious mood to it... But at the same time the human emotions come to life..... The switch to clean vocals was amazing and the mood of the song is brilliant. Poetically, its amazingly written... I especially love the ending of the song.. Ruthless!

This is surely music at its very best! And no one does it better than Opeth!

------ About the song Face Of Melinda performed by Opeth

My words can't explain how much I love this song, it's like the best song when it comes for acoustic skills.
The song from the beginning till the end kepts you imaginning and imaginning, imagination built a glass castle just then she threw the stone.

Possibly the best song to describe Opeth's style. | Reviewer: Aerik the Dead
------ About the song Ghost of Perdition performed by Opeth

The song that perfectly defines the prog rock/death metal combination that Opeth is trying to achieve. The loud, aggressive parts are incredibly mosh worthy, while the slower, softer parts would make the prog rock masters (the members of bands such as Rush, Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull, just to name a few) incredibly proud that their legacy is being carried on in such an amazing way.

------ About the song Bleak performed by Opeth

Definitely one of my favourite Opeth songs , and favourite songs in general. Especially the clean vocals at "Devious Movements in your Eyes" that whole stanza is just perfect singing to me. It's also my favourite song to play on guitar, that main heavy riff is just so epic. Didn't get to see Opeth in December cause i was 17 , but next time i'll be at the front , i'll be sure of it =P

The Moor 2 | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song The Moor performed by Opeth

Actually it's not about a satanic or atheist guy. The Moors are a muslim group from nw Africa and southeast spain, so the song is about how he's been persecuted for being a moor his entire life and being an outcast. He's come back to see Melinda, his childhood love who he hasn't seen in 15 years. Just before "She is waterdrops over the pyre..." the song goes into deathmetal mode, that + the lyrics mean that he's remembering how he was hated by everyone in the town

Haunting song | Reviewer: Zack
------ About the song Harvest performed by Opeth

I'm sure you could relate this song to stories from the bible or any sort of mythological tale, but that might be reading too much into it. Not that that should stop you...

This song has a very resigning feel to it. It reads to me as a song about death - people mourn the person who died, but it's the most tragic for him, as he's the one who actually died... And he won't be coming back. "Mourners lament but it's me who's to martyr".

Very eerie and draining. Love it.
