OOBU JOOBU, OOBU JOOBU, OOBU JOOBU, OOBU JOOBU....

"PAUL McCARTNEY CHATS ABOUT ABBEY ROAD"

NOW WHEN WE WERE WORKING IN THE EMI WITH THE BEATLES IN THE EARLY DAYS WE ALWAYS HAD AVAILABLE TO US ALL SORTS OF INSTRUMENTS THAT WERE LYING AROUND FROM LIKE MRS. MILLS SESSIONS AND BARON...............SESSIONS AND ALL SORTS OF PEOPLES SESSIONS. SO THAT WHY A LOT THE BEATLES MUSIC IS RICHLY INSTRUMENTATED. BEACAUSE THERE WAS ALWAYS THIS AVAILABLE STUFF AROUND THAT WE DIDN'T BRING WITH US.
THIS IS A 'WINGS' MELLOTRON AND THESE WERE THE ORIGINAL SYNTHESIZERS. EMI HAD ONE AND WE USED TO RECORD THERE SO AGAIN, YOU KNOW, IT WAS AVAILABLE TO US. PROBABLY THE MOST FAMOUS THING WE EVER DID ON IT, ONE OF THE FIRST USES WE EVER PUT, WAS FLUTES ON THE FRONT OF 'STRAWBERRY FIELDS' AND I PLAYED A LITTLE SORT OF THING ON THE FRONT OF JOHN'S SONG THERE THAT REALLY GAVE IT LIKE A DISTINCTIVE CHARACTER. I THINK I STILL GOT THE FLUTES UPON HERE.
LET ME TAKE YOU DOWN...
AND THE YOU GO...WOOHH...YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE, HUH, 'CAUSE YOU CHANGE THE LITTLE PITCH THING THAT THE MELLOTRONS HAD, A LITTLE PITCH CONTROL SO YOU COULD MAKE THAT SWOOP DOWN, YOU KNOW, THAT WE WANTED. SO THAT WAS MAGIC PLAYING WITH THESE.
THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL ONE IS THIS ONE. THIS IS THE ACTUAL ONE THEY HAD IN EMI. IT'S GOT THIS KIND OF OLD GREY COLOUR, LOOKS LIKE IT'S COMING RIGHT OUT OF THE WAR OR SOMETHING. AND I THINK, MY THEORY IS, THESE WEREN'T SO MUCH FOR LIKE WHAT WE USED THEM FOR. I THINK THEY WERE TRYING TO SELL THIS SORT OF STUFF TO KIND OF CABARET ARTISTS. SO IF YOU HAD A, YOU KNOW, A BIT LIKE PEOPLE DO THESE DAYS, THEY HAVE A LITTLE...ER, EITHER A TAPE OR THEY HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF MUSIC AND THEY'RE PLAYING ON LITTLE SYNTHESIZERS AND IT SOUNDS A BIT LIKE AN ORCHESTRA, YOU KNOW, LIKE, LIKE THEY BROUGHT A BAND WITH THEM OR A RHYTHM BOX AND SOUND LIKE YOU BROUGHT A DRUMMER WITH YOU.
SO YOU GOT ALL THESE CRAZY LITTLE THINGS. I LOVE 'EM NOW 'CAUSE THEY'RE JUST SO UNFASH, A LITTLE BIT SLEEZY, LITTLE BIT CABARET, BUT YOU GET STUFF LIKE THIS AND I LOVE THE SOUND:

HUH, COME ON, BABY, CAN I BUY YOU A DRINK?
ALRIGHT, I'LL HAVE A GIN AND.........
WELL, COME ON, BABY, OH, LITTLE DARLING, WON'T YOU DRINK WITH ME?
COME ON, HONEY, MAYBE WE'LL GO BACK TO MY FLAT, MY FLAT,
I LOVE YOU SO.

COME ON, LITTLE BABY,
ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, I'LL THINK I'LL COME UP TO YOUR FLAT IF YOU WILL, YOU KNOW

IT'S ALL SO SMOOCHY HERE IN THIS APARTMENT BLOCK, I REALLY LOVE IT.
WOULD YOU LIKE ANOTHER DRINK, MY DEAR?
ALRIGHT, GO ON THEN TWIST MY ARM

YIHAH! IT'S BACK, OH YEAH
(scat sing)

YOU SEE, YOU CAN HAVE ACERS OF FUN ON THESE THINGS, OH BOY, I'LL TELL YOU, YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THE SLEEZYNESS OF THESE THINGS, I LOVE IT! THEY GOT SO MUCH STUFF, YOU CHANGE THE SELECTIONS HERE, BRILLIANT OLD INSTRUMENTS SO WHEREAS WE JUST GOT THAT STUFF. LET'S SEE WHAT WE'VE GOT ON THE NEXT, SO IT WAS A MYSTERY 'CAUSE I NEVER REALLY FOUND OUT WHAT'S ON THEM. SO THIS ONE'S DIFFERENT

OH FRANS, WELCOME TO THE CASTLE, HA-HA-HA
QUITE A WINDY NIGHT OUT, JA? HUH HUH HUH
BUT YOU KNOW I ALWAYS LOVED IT THERE IN...................
HAVE ANOTHER TANKARD WITH ME BEFORE WE RETIRE FOR THE NIGHT, HA!
OH, HANS, YOU'RE SO HOSPITABLE!

ALRIGHT, MATE, WHO'S THIS HANS CHARACTER?
I NEVER HEARD OF HIM, HA HA
DON'T WORRY, MY DARLING, WE'RE ALL TOGETHER, HA HA HA

OOH! YOU CAN HAVE A LOT OF FUN ON THESE THINGS, I'LL TELL YOU. SO THAT'S THE OLD MELLOTRON AND AH... YOU CAN SEE IT'S A GOOD LAUGH. OH BOY, THEN YOU GOT THE EARLIEST ORIGINALLY, THEN YOU GOT THE MOOG, THE MOOG SYNTHESIZER...YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE HOLDING THE MIKE STEADY AND BEHAVING
