Barry Manilow One Voice Lyrics

Last updated: 08/23/2014 06:04:12 AM

Just One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Singing so they hear what's on your mind,
And when you look around you'll find
There's more than
One Voice,

Singing in the darkness,
Joining with your One Voice,
Each and every note another octave,
Hands are joined and fears unlocked,
If only
One Voice
Would start it on its own
We need just One Voice
Facing the unknown,
And that One Voice
Would never be alone
It takes that One Voice.

Ba ba ba da da da da,
Ba ba ba ba ba ba da da da,
Ba ba ba ba ba ba
It takes that one voice

Just One Voice
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Shout it out and let it ring.
Just One Voice,
It takes that One Voice,
And everyone will sing!

Thank You For the Music | Reviewer: Anne | 8/23/14

Since I was 13 I have adored Mr.Manilows talent. Now at the age of 50, I am still singing his songs as I walk to work in the morning. ONE VOICE is one I carry in my heart..always.

What Mr. Manilow 's Music Has Done For Me. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/16/13

Just a beautiful song. So inspirational. Great singer great lyrics. One of the most touching. He seems so honest in it with his words and the melody is perfection. I have found his music recently, and I was a fan in the late '70's early '80's. First time I remember seeing him was on the Donny and Marie Show in 1977/1978 when she turned 18 and fell in love with his blue eyes and thought he looked like a real gentle man and gentleman. His music has been bringing me joy, peace, and comfort over the past several months. I had not heard any music in 3 years, it was too painful but he brought music back to me and I will always be grateful. His voice seems to have matured over the years and sounds more gentle and mellow than in his early years. Perhaps that comes with maturity and gaining confidence in one's self and their abilities.

In the Tradition of "It Only Takes a Spark..." | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/18/10

Barry hit it big just as I was finding (or was it fighting?!) my way through adolescence/puberty and into my teens. Many of his songs touched my life in a way that's hard to describe except to say that one of my early loves was Mandy Hotchkiss ("Oh Mandy..."). I have sung "One Voice" in the shower for some 40 years now and if I can find the courage I may sing it in my elementary school's talent show this Spring. BTW, I am now a school counselor and the words and theme of "One Voice" so aptly fits the concept of moral/ethical leadership and making right decisions! Barry, thanks for your heart, your talents and your voice!

Anthem | Reviewer: Horse Safety | 12/18/10

Years ago I was involved with rehoming unwanted horses and I posted this song on the website ( I often felt all alone in my work and the song uplifted my spirits.

Now I am involved with another kind of rescue -- safely removing a large animal from entrapment such as a trailer rollover or out of a well -- and it's tough going sometimes. There's little money available to train emergency responders, and little interest from agencies and governments to do so. So few horse owners know how to care for their horses in emergencies but seem to think that if they learn this information it will somehow draw a disaster to them. They'll spend hundreds of dollars to watch a new trainer but none to learn how to save their horses.

I send out a monthly newsletter, I have a website for LAR (, I wrote a book on the subject and classes on safety, and it sometimes seems that I am alone in my work, singing into the night. I know there are several people in this field who teach, and some hundreds who belong to groups that are involved in getting the animals out of their life-threatening situations, but it gets lonely sometimes. Then I play this song and it strengthens me and gives me the courage to continue my work.

Barry Manilow is vastly underrated as a song-writer. I'm so grateful for this man and his talent.

"One Voice" | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/17/10

From the first time I heard it--and yes, it was way back in the '70s when the song was new, "One Voice" has been my favorite song of all time. It has inspired me when I needed inspiration and it has soothed me when I needed to know I wasn't alone. As in so many of his songs, Barry Manilow touched a nerve so deep that most people don't even know it's there. Thank, Mr. Manilow, for sharing your gifts with the rest of us.

Makes the hair on my kneck STAND UP! | Reviewer: tom tune | 2/8/09

Just incredible, what an uplifting song. I'm printing a copy of the words for my daughter to give her strength as she heads back to college. I want her to rememeber there's nothing she can't do and she can make a difference. And it all starts with her 'one voice'...

Good luck my little girl who has grown into a beautiful young woman! God be with you...

Another singalong belter | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/4/08

A fantastic catchy tune that symbolises Barrys unerring creative quality. A song that everyone probably publicly dismisses but after a few pints sings their heart out to although not knowing the whole words!!
In that "ABBA" mould that starts relatively quiet but builds to a superb crescendo. Long live the majic.
