So many wasted days
Come and go like ocean waves
Hit like a freight train
And now I can't get off my face
How could I have been so blind
To simply let them die
Who am I to spread my fingers
After you have filled my hands
Watching the moments slip through like desert sand
Respect her ignorance
Just in case she takes offense
The darkness that's killing her
Well that is just not my concern
How could I have been so blind
To simply let them die
Who am I to spread my fingers
After you have filled my hands
Watching the moments slip through like desert sand
You're not guaranteed tomorrow
You're not guaranteed tomorrow
How could I have been so blind
To simply let them die
Who am I to spread my fingers
After you have filled my hands
Watching the moments slip through like desert sand

Review about Ocean Waves I understand now! | Reviewer: Quixotic Tai | 8/1/09
Oh, this so hits close to home. This song, to me, is about how Christians are supposed to spread the love of Jesus across the planet, but we're too afraid to, because of what they will say. We feel we have to 'respect [their] ignorance, just in case [they] take offense.' We don't say anything because we're scared, but truthfully, we should be more afraid of God, and less afraid of man. If we were to die doing His will, then we will surely gain our place by His side in His kingdom.
It's like everyone being stranded in a desert, and you and a friend wander off to find water. You two go over a hill, and find a large, thirst-quenching oasis along with a full-course banquet set out, yours for the taking. But the others don't know that that's what's beyond the hill, so it's your/our jobs to run back and yell at the tops of our lungs the precious gift we've found.
