Nowhere Man Lyrics - The Beatles

Review The Song (60)

He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.

Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man,the world is at your command!

(lead guitar)

He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?

Nowhere Man, don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
sponsored links
Leave it all till somebody else
lends you a hand!

Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man please listen,
you don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command!

He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody!

i am the nowhere man | Reviewer: Marcel | 8/20/14

For me it means what sitting home alone means,
He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
when sitting at home the most depressing thing for me is to look at other people living thier lives and me basicly missing my golden years
Nowhere Man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man,the world is at your command!
i have always been a weird person, careless and narrow minded.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
as often happens with people who are mostly alone is that they become prisoners of their own minds, making us blind for love and the other joys of life.
He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
All i can hear with this song is a description of me, a sad and lonely man, who is missing his golden years being in his nowhereland for nobody

Understanding poetry. | Reviewer: Uncle Tenoose | 5/12/14

The question "what was the author trying to say?" is irrelevant. If it has to be determined what he meant to say, then it follows that he failed. A piece of art takes on a life of its own once it is released. The artist fades into the background. A piece literature, particularly, is nor an Easter egg hunt. If that was the writer's intent, then he is a fraud. Any work of art means what you make it mean at the particular time in your life when you meet it.

A lesson in positive thinking | Reviewer: ljstudio | 5/4/14

I was listening to this song recently and the lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks. When John says "you don't know what you are missing, Nowhere man, the world is at your command" could mean if your thoughts stay the same as they always have, you will remain the same but if you change your thoughts (and your actions) the world may change for you. John may have been describing the difference between (and no one will ever know the truth) his growing up poor in Liverpool to becoming part of the most famous musical group in the world...

For Gary | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/16/13

Oh Gary that is not like you think. You can never know the reasons for your existence. for ex if your son sometimes finds his way or not or just helps one day some other people or saves somebody's life or something similar, can you say then the reason of your life was to have him?Or if his son does it? The same. We don't have to understand everything at once, don't worry about this and just enjoy your time.

Gary' realization | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/27/13

It's very difficult to understand how someone other than yourself sees the world. Sometimes we see something in another person only because it is a reflection of you. I've looked at my son who is 25 and has no direction in his life and those first few lines of No where man come to my mind. But I just realized the reason I see it is because I'm the no where man sitting in his no where land making all his no where plans for nobody. I'm 60 and I just realized that I've lived my life as a No Where Man. How sad is that?

Nixon as Nowhere Man | Reviewer: Rich | 6/13/13

Joe,

I always think of Nixon too, but that's because there was some kind of variety show that had a skit with this song playing and a guy wearing a Nixon mask, dancing around with his V-signs in the air. Just can't remember what that was, but I was an impressionable little kid, and I remember being sad that they were teasing our president. Don't know if he had resigned yet or not.

yesterday today n tomorrow | Reviewer: ron blasdell | 4/24/13

living the life as you recall yesterday, today and tomorrow with today be living in the now, yesterday has flown away! as we speculate "tomorrow,,,,,, a realizeation",even if momentarily escaping this minor depressive_state is a realized point in which you conclude yes my bird can sing but he cant see me.

Nowwhere man | Reviewer: Katherine | 9/29/12

The song remembered and popped into my head while driving recently for a reason, the lyrics incredibly on point to the pain a nowhere man (woman) have caused upon me. Why John wrote it has to have been him trying to make sense of whomever caused pain upon him. Also, you cannot work (collaborate) with a nowhere man, whoever thinks this could be about Paul is not getting it.

why do we think so hard | Reviewer: Nobody | 9/15/12

This song, as for most songs, was a product for someting new to sing and play. A change from what the band was always playing. And of course to make money! It may mean a lot of things, to a lot of people and thier ideals and that is why they want to hear it , or sing it. All of us are influenced by what has happened to us and our loved ones. this song touches people, so we have to dwell on it. I am sure there are many songs that are not hits because they fail to connect to People. John just dreamed it up , and we bought it!!

Misguided notions | Reviewer: Get Real | 5/14/12

It amazes me how people can just make up what John Lennon was thinking when he wrote the song. God....Childhood etc.... How about something as simple as: In a 1971 interview with Rolling Stone, Lennon recalled the background to this song: "I remember I was just going through this paranoia trying to write something and nothing would come out so I just lay down and tried to not write and then this came out, the whole thing came out in one gulp."

Everyman | Reviewer: Jason | 4/20/12

This song touches on a little bit of us all. We all live in our own little worlds. This tends to narrow our perspectives. Perhaps it may be that we are no one without everyone. "Can you see me at all". Don't be too self-absorbed and pull your head out once in while.

People read too much into it lyrics... | Reviewer: Larry | 3/25/12

...as if they are a diary of prose. John had been trying to come up with a viable song for a long time and near the end of the day this finally came out as a stream of consciousness (just as most lyrics do). It describes well the state of mind when nothing worthwhile is coming to mind.

misguided fans? | Reviewer: nila | 3/19/12

i read somewhere that this song, like many songs & movies and books goes back to "We see darkly, through a mirror". The scriptures tell us this because we see things through the mirror of the world until we get new eyes through Christ. And, as many artists look through the worlds eyes, this song states the WE are going to command our fate and future.. Wrong?

All the Lonely people | Reviewer: Harry | 2/17/12

This song describes the life of John Lennon and includes all people who consider themselves to be nowhere man, including me. Not knowing where to live because they live in a world of nowhere always makes us bitter and tormented man. But do not worry nowhere man, hopefully we get a happy life....

He's all of us. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/30/11

To me, this songs represents humanity; society as a whole. This "Nowhere Man" is a man lost in his consumerism, in his own mind and his own thoughts, losing his grasp on what life really is. He's too distracted and immersed in his depression to leave his house and his closed mind and open himself to new discoveries.
