Review The Song (36)Print the Lyrics
Now you've got something to die for
Now you've got something to die for
Infidel, Imperial
Lust for blood, a blind crusade
Apocalyptic, we count the days

Bombs to set the people free, blood to feed the dollar tree
Flags for coffins on the screen, oil for the machine
Army of liberation, gunpoint indoctrination
The fires of sedition
Fulfill the prophecy

Now you've got something to die for
Now you've got something to die for

Send the children to the fire, sons and daughters stack the pyre
Stoke the flame of the empire, live to lie another day
Face of hypocrisy, raping democracy
Apocalyptic, we count the days

We'll never get out of this hole, until we've dug our own grave
And drag the rest down with us, the burning home of the brave
Burn
Now you've got something to die for
Now you've got something to die for

Lamb of God is fucking right on man!!!They are so aware of what's really going on with politics and religion and sending us the real message. And they're such bad ass musicians!!!We need more metal bands like this. Not just a bunch of emo goth fucks screaming stupid lyrics with no fucking meaning.LAMB OF GOD IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

this song is the most awersome song ever!!The lyrics are directed to ward the war on terror. and lamb of god cleary dont like the idea of war. Lamb of gods music should send a clare message to the people in power in ameerica. But i would like to say lamb of god rocks. rock on

my opinion | Reviewer: Briona | 4/28/09

I believe tht this song is about the U.S.
And our participation in war. Also just plain war.
"Oil for the machine"-U.S vs.Iraq
"Send the Children to the fire"-Germans
"Lust for blood"-every war
"Infidel"-religious wars
But reguardless of what the message is its still an awesome song.

the REAL story behind.. | Reviewer: Alpha | 4/13/09

dis was supposed to reflect on America's "imperialism", that is to taking over as the global policeman. it's also criticizin the so-called patriots and supporters of war who've never even been in combat.

Enjoy the song! But... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/9/09

I believe that it's about just war in general. Why are most wars started? Territory, property, basically anything beneficial to any nation. "Oil for the machine" does imply the War on Terror, but if you just leave out that line this could be meant for any war. Also it could mean oil for the war machine- anything promoting the war and feeding the flames of war. "stoke the flames"- again- feeding the fire. Building it up. "We'll never get out of this hole until we've dug our own grave"- Again possibly a reference to the War on Terror. But the general message of the song is about any war. "apocalyptic, counting the days"- People want it to end.
This is just my opinion on it.

FUCKIN RIGHTS | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/16/09

i think it is about the holocoust because of the quote "send the children to the fire", in which was done by the german military they will never get out of the hole unitl they kill themself in my opinion it is referring to the holocoust

Relax. | Reviewer: Reilly | 12/9/08

The song is about the United States involvement on the War on Terror. To correct a couple of errors in everyone's text (not to promote arguing, but rather to clarify...) 1) Every country has had their embarressing moments of sitting back and letting the world tear itself apart; this includes the United States and everyone else included in NATO and the Geneva Convention. 2) Women can join the military and fight for their country. I'm a United States Marine and I have plenty of good Marine friends who are females. They can handle the same shit as the rest of the guys. 3) The majority of everyone in the Military joins because they don't have much going for them OR they feel that it's an honor to serve their country. There are only several high ranking people that make the decision to enter a war. Junior Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors have no vote in the matter. Which is why I respect military personnel so much more than someone who wants to criticize it from the outside, just because they're a sophmore in college and think they're far more intelligent. For the record, I already have a bachelors degree and I'm working on a second. But I choose to stay in the Marines because it's not about any 'war'. It's about the Marine, Soldier, Sailor, or Airman right next to you. If you can't understand that, then stay on the safe side of the fence child.

Something to die for | Reviewer: Irving Washington | 11/25/08

Yeah... i don't get how anyone can think this is about anything other than the Iraq war.

Its a very cynical take on what was the bush administrations foreign policy.

"Bombs to set the people free" - Contradiction it isn't democracy or liberty if its forced. the same goes for - "Army of liberation, gunpoint indoctrination"

"blood to feed the dollar tree" - Profiteering from Iraq's oil reserves

and the "something to die for" well thats the great bit, there isn't really one. Its a comment on the hysteria about the middle east the war on terror generated. And gave reason for working class kids with no future to sign up and get shot. While the good old USAF went happily away at bombing their allies.

Anyway i'm sure someone is gonna follow this with "no its WW2 we kicked europe's fag ass" or some other well informed critical reading. but before i hand over the podium to team retard can i just say if you like the anti war message of this then 'Twenty' by Robert Cray is well worth a listen. It's a blues song but the story it tells is amazing.

oh and there's a good video of this on youtube live at download or something.
