Northern Downpour Lyrics - Panic! At The Disco

Review The Song (18)

If all our life is but a dream
Fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me

And then she said she can't believe
Genius only comes along
In storms of fabled foreign tongues
Tripping eyes, and flooded lungs
Northern downpour sends its love

Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down

Sugarcane in the easy mornin'
Weathervanes my one and lonely

The ink is running toward the page
It's chasin' off the days
sponsored links
Look back at both feet
And that winding knee
I missed your skin when you were east
You clicked your heels and wished for me

Through playful lips made of yarn
That fragile Capricorn
Unraveled words like moths upon old scarves
I know the world's a broken bone
But melt your headaches, call it home

Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down

Sugarcane in the easy mornin'
Weathervanes my one and lonely

Sugarcane (hey moon) in
(Hey moon) the easy mornin'
Weathervanes (hey moon) my
(Hey moon) one and lonely

Sugarcane (hey moon) in (hey moon)
The easy (hey moon) mornin'
Weathervanes (hey moon) my (hey moon)
One (hey moon) and lonely

[Continues in background:]
Sugarcane (hey moon) in (hey moon)
The easy (hey moon) mornin'
Weathervanes (hey moon) my (hey moon)
One (hey moon) and lonely

Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down
You are at the top of my lungs
Drawn to the ones who never yawn

Love this song but still dont know what it means... | Reviewer: Jasmine | 3/9/11

Simplicity | Reviewer: Axel | 6/6/10

This song is exactly what the world needs to hear. I think it's saying that people get too caught up in chasing the materialistic beauty of the world, that they forgot about the natural beauty of the world a lot of the times. It's almost an expression of how simple things really are in life and that it's "us" who makes life so hard.

brutally best | Reviewer: laleina louise | 2/28/10

to come n think of it,,its darn hard to make a song like northern downpour,,its all i ever wanted to tell to d world n its all in one composition,,yet the words are wise...i mean from ''genius'' which is a character mention from VISION OF MIRZA..dat says all our life is but a diamonds dat says doesnt mean a thing,,and i hate jewelries,,!..well..SIMPLY THE BEST SONG I'V EVER HEARD IN MY 15 YEARS OF LIFE...

Actually there's an interview somewhere I read and Ryan said in it that he wrote these lyrics for Brendon and that he's meant to think really hard when he sings it.
Of course it could have alot of different meanings, but thats just what he said.

Why bother with simple words? ;) | Reviewer: Kaityline | 10/15/09

I agree, this is a tribute to love and simplicity. Ryan is amazing and will be my favourite lyricist :) But it's sad because this is the last song they recorded together and then they split...hmmm stupid Ryan and Jon, being primaddonas :D nah jk i love 'em and maybe all they need is break from P!ATD?? Oh well, time can tell :( Lol I sing the 'feed our jewerly to the sea/for diamond appear to be just like broken glass to me' line to my family when theyre being greedy *giggle*
peices out

I think there is no doubt of drug references in here. But I really don't think it matters what Ryan wanted the song to mean, because no one will ever know. Either way it's a great song and I think it can mean a million different things to the millions of people who listen to it.

Materialistic?? | Reviewer: Katy | 7/26/09

They don't have to be materialistic to be in the music world. That is their surroundings, and they don't have to blend. Also, who says that's even what they're saying? If you don't like the band, don't review their song. It's that simple.

Love this song | Reviewer: R | 6/27/09

I really love this song and I love with all my soul sings how Ryan, is beautiful (L). I dont know very well what this song, just hope it will not be on drugs because that would seem terrible to me ...

Im from Argentina, so if you have many spelling errors sorry (:

Who says that they meant it? And who leads a life thats different? Saying a song has to mean this or that and a band sucks is arrogant and stupid. music is art. and art is - easy said two things: interpretative und personal. art can't suck. it's not good or bad its IT. and it has ALWAYS more than only one possible meaning and non above it all truth
