legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The group's many fans
will surely be glad to discover it's as eclectic and
down-home as the sound NGD13 pioneered more than three
decades ago. From the romping introduction of "If This
Ain't Love" (written by Jim Lauderdale) to the chugging
meltdown of "Southbound Train" (Dennis Linde), Bang Bang
Bang presents The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in fine form.

The record draws on a handful of country and roots music's

------ About the song Waitin' On A Dark Eyed Gal performed by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Think about the first line:
"...The Midnight Train.." So where do you think he is?
Should be:
"Think I'll stay right here in these Depot Lights"

He's in a train Depot, and just what are deep old lights? Maybe on the Titanic?

The version with the old mans voice saying " I wonder why it is that a dog don't get to live too long, but he still has to die old " is by Jim Stafford on his Jim Stafford album. Some say Jim Stafford helped Jerry Jeff Walker write this song.

Just love the band. Been loving them since I was a kid. I'm 46 and I still want to listen to their songs. How come there's no access to songs Joe Knows How to Live, Dancin to the Beat of a Broken Heart and Goodbye Eyes. Here in Phils, I don't know where to get their cds. More Power to the band members. Stay healthy... Most of us want you around for as long as time...

I have searched the web for accurate lyrics to the Dirt Band's version (in my opinion the only version) of this song. So far, you are the only one that has come close to getting it right.
They way I understand this line:

He spoke with tears of 15 years how his dog and him traveled about.

it should be:

He spoke through tears of 15 years how his dog and him traveled about.

and

after 20 years he still grieved.

Should read:

after 20 years he still grieves.

It's really funny to see how many really bad mistakes people make with this song. But you got it right!! Good Job!
