Leave me out withthe waste
This is not what I'd do
It's the wrong kind of place
To be thinking of you
It's the wrong time
For somebody new
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright?
If you don't shoot it how am I supposed to hold it
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright, yeah, with you?
Leave me out with the waste
This is not what I'd do
It's the wrong kind of place
To be cheating on you
It's the wrong time
she's pulling me through
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright?
If you don't shoot it how am I supposed to hold it
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright
Is that alright with you?
Is that alright?
Is that alright?
Is that alright with you?
Is that alright?
Is that alright?
Is that alright with you?

Review about Nine Crimes Silent Tears | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/3/09
When I first heard this song listening to my mom's iPod in the car on my way home from school I was captivated.I couldn't make out the words then, and begged my mom to put it on my MP3 player. When that proved impossible to do I saved up my money for an iPod.As soon as the songs were loaded on it I listened to 9 Crimes non-stop.Most days, when I'm alone at my house I'll listen to it and dance around, singing softly and sometimes crying silently at the beauty.Damien Rice is pure genius.
I have listened many times to this song. I have tried for years to figure out the meaning. Obviously the 'crime' is cheating. The big part is the loaded gun. The meaning is when you decept someone you give them a blast to the heart. You blow their heart. The gun is the power of the person who holds the cards. When they say 'give my loaded gun away' it is in analogy to someone who doesn't think of someone and just gives their decisions to the other to deal with. 'your supposed to hold it' means it is their problem. The other part is the realization is that have to deal with the others decisions, mistakes and downfall. They are both feeling the brunt and regret. I still have no idea and this is why I love this song. When I had a bad deal with a cheating boyfriend I empalized with the girl thinking that this guy hurt me and he put a loaded gun in my hand for me to hold. (analogy) what am I supposed to do??? What???
Amazing... | Reviewer: Speechless | 5/9/09
Both of their voices pull me into an emotional trance where I swear I can feel a hidden pain inside of both them. They portray emotions through this song with the little lyrics. When it comes to Damien Rice...No song has yet disappointed me. His ability to capture my soul is intriguing. He has inspired a change in me. As a dancer,I'm always looking for ways to move people and express myself in different ways. There are so many different ways to interpret this song, but yet each way is bound by a hidden meaning in this song that I have yet figure out. I think there is more to this song. It touches my soul, and I yearn for more. No one can write songs like Damien. He truly can capture all audiences. And as I conclude this review,I can say with passion and unalloyed honesty that this song is really what music is meant to be; mysterious, hard to decipher, holds a different meaning to each person, and can be related to.
Similarities? | Reviewer: Companions Quartet Fan | 4/25/09
Does anyone else see the similarities between this song and the book "Double Cross", last book in the Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman? I think this song just describes Tobey so perfectly!

This song,I feel is about a man who cheats on the women he loves then admits it to her. So he's giving 'his gun (evidence/truth) to the women he loves to either 'kill'/destroy the relationship or move on...anyone?
Tragic Beauty | Reviewer: Ellen | 10/30/08
This song is perfect for when you feel alone and unwanted. Both his and Lisa Hannigan's voice is beautiful. I sang this as a duet and it moved the whole audience. It is rare to find such a powerful artist as Damien Rice, his album is equally poigininat, especially those who crave for someone to feel the same as them.
I think this song is about suicide. It's fun to dance to in my room. While crying. About my emotional problems. My psychiatrist recommended it to me and it's truly cured me. Thank you Damien Rice. You saved my life. May he save yours too.
nine crimes, nine cries | Reviewer: LiSa <3 | 9/2/08
In the story, the girl is trying to get the people who care about her, the people who knows shes hurting, to just get away from her. The guy on the other hand knows hes hurt the people he loves, and is trying to get them to talk to him and to listen to try to get them to forgive and forget. In life, you can forgive and forget, but no matter what, the damage is done. In life, you have to talk to people adventually so they can help you. Life is complicated and confusing, but it also makes perfect sense. Life is about loving the ones who love you, and the ones that may not. But, that message is lost between all of the hate and anger in the world. We are givin life for a reason, to love and care and help those who may need it, even if they dont deserve it. Life is about loving the ones wholove you, and the ones that may not too.

listening to this song...i m considerning how much,us...people ,can mess up with our lives...having next to us something unique...perfect(the other half of our selfs)...but still we find the way to screw it up for something momental ...then we feal regrets and guilts, ending up full of thoughts and feallings bombing our minds ..starting to aprexiate but its alreaby too late ...the trust that glowed the relationship it s gone ....and no matter what you do,we can never make it whole again...even if you want to forget and forgive it s always the doubts and the uncertenty remaining... but thats the nature of humanity...and it s called vanity!!
Karma | Reviewer: Djunky11 | 1/26/08
It is about self-denial and living with your own self-loathing, acknowledging your own flaws and mistakes and knowing that you could get over it but you don't because you feel comfortable in your own self-deprivation. Theres a sense of haunting because they ask each other "Is that alright with you?" as if to taunt the other because they can't help each other when in reality neither wants to be saved. Mocking himself he says to give the gun away when it's loaded so he can't kill himself; truth being he was never committing suicide in the first place, but offers it up anyways in a gesture of good faith.
A truly never ending cycle of intentional emotional atrophy that neither person wants to be rescued from.
